The meetings focused on four major areas: the status of College Research Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs); budget allocations and utilization for research; the proposed creation of the University Research Hub; and other concerns related to research outputs and activities.
The discussions enabled the DRD and participating colleges to review the progress of ongoing and planned research initiatives, identify challenges affecting implementation, and determine appropriate actions to improve research productivity and support mechanisms.
A key point of discussion was the status of College Research PPAs and the utilization of research funds. College Deans and representatives provided updates on their research activities and raised concerns requiring institutional attention. The exchange of information also allowed the DRD to identify areas where closer monitoring, coordination, and support may be needed.
The proposed establishment of the University Research Hub also emerged as a significant initiative during the meetings. The hub is envisioned to serve as a centralized support mechanism for faculty members, staff, and student researchers by providing access to research assistance, consultation, collaboration, and other services aimed at improving the quality and productivity of research outputs.
Other matters concerning research activities and outputs were likewise discussed, providing participants with an avenue to share concerns, recommendations, and possible strategies for addressing existing gaps and challenges.
The separate engagements with Potia and Lamut Campus strengthen the Universityโs continuing effort to strengthen research leadership and cultivate a more responsive and productive research culture.
Through closer coordination among the DRD, campus executive directors, college deans and coordinators, faculty members, and researchers, IFSU seeks to translate research initiatives into relevant, quality, and impactful outputs that contribute to institutional development and the broader community.
