Twelve Bachelor of Arts in Political Science interns from Ifugao State University (IFSU) successfully completed their Internship 2 at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Baguio City Office on April 11, 2026, under the supervision of Acting Election Officer IV and concurrent Regional Election Attorney, Atty. Romeo L. Aguilar Jr.
Throughout their deployment, and under the close guidance of Election Assistants, the interns were immersed in the daily operations of the office. They assisted clients, processed voter registration forms, verified voter records, and organized official election documents,tasks that introduced them to the administrative backbone of electoral service delivery.
More than a requirement for academic completion, the internship became a formative professional experience that deepened their understanding of public service, discipline, and accountability,its core principles that define electoral governance and democratic integrity.
โThe internship taught us that every document processed is part of a larger responsibility of protecting the credibility of elections,so far maganda nman", Mr. Kent Albert Bayninan said.
Mr. Jimmy Pinocyahan reflected on the experience, "we learned how to remain composed under pressure, especially during peak workloads, and how teamwork plays a vital role in ensuring efficient public service.โ
Ms. Melvie Tayaban also shared her realization, stating, โAt first, we were nervous handling official documents, but eventually we learned that confidence comes with responsibility and proper guidance sa mga EA namin.โ
Moreover, Ms. Tracy Dulnuan underscored the value of transparency describing interning at COMELEC was a challenging yet rewarding experience. "Assisting with voter registration taught me the value of transparency and patience in public service. It deepened my commitment to electoral integrity and showed me how local governance impacts the community."

As the internship concluded, the students expressed gratitude to the COMELEC Baguio Office for the opportunity to work within a professional government environment. They emphasized that the experience not only strengthened their technical and administrative skills but also deepened their appreciation for democratic processes and civic responsibility.
โIn every form we handled and every citizen we assisted, we came to understand that public service is not just about complianceโit is about trust, and trust is the foundation of democracy,โ said Ms. Ezrahlynne Habbiling.
