CHATGPT: What's My Curse?
The rain was pouring heavily when I curiously prompted ChatGPT with "What's my curse? Don't explain it" and it hit me.
For the longest time, I've lived in the ache of
"almost."
Almost there.
Almost enough.
Almost the person I worked so hard to become.
It's a quiet kind of torment-one that doesn't scream failure but whispers not quite. It's that lingering sense that no matter how much I give, how much I endure, or how close I get, I'm still somehow left waiting at the edge of fulfillment.
I've chased perfection, hoping it would grant me the permission to finally feel worthy. I've convinced myself that once everything aligned. Once I felt more prepared, more confident, more complete then I could finally arrive at the life I dream of. But the truth is, that day never comes. Because the curse of "almost" doesn't break with achievement. It breaks with decision.
That "almost" builds up silently over time, creating this invisible wall between where I am and where I know I could be. I've spent years standing just steps away from what I truly want-watching it, reaching for it, but never quite holding it.
And I've asked myself, Why? Why does it always feel like I fall short at the last moment? Why do doors seem to open just wide enough for me to peek in, but never walk through?
The answer hit hard. It's not always the world withholding from me. Sometimes, it's me waiting for certainty, for permission, for a flawless version of myself that doesn't exist. I've built my life on the belief that I have to earn everything as if worthiness is some far-off finish line I haven't crossed yet.
But I'm done letting "almost" write my story. I'm done shrinking my joy, my ambition, and my voice just because l've been afraid it's too soon, too bold, or too much. The truth is, l've already survived so much. I've grown through storms, pushed through doubt, and carried dreams others might have abandoned long ago. That isn't "almost." That's already.
So today, I choose to stop chasing. I choose to claim. I choose to live like the life I want isn't ahead of me, it's within me.
After all this time, I've just been standing at the threshold, unaware that the door was never locked.
Now, l am ready to breakthrough.
No more waiting.
No more half-steps.
The curse ends where I say it does.
