High Five to Five: Alaguia ES Writers Earn Their Way to CSPC 2026

The halls of Alaguia Elementary School echoed with cheers and pride as five young journalists secured coveted spots in the upcoming CD-1 Schools Press Conference (CSPC) on September 2, 2026. Their achievements are more than medals and certificates—they are stories of determination, guidance, and a community that believes in the power of every child’s voice.

For Alaguia ES, these victories symbolize another chapter of excellence under the banner of its enduring tagline: “Naregta nga Alaguia.”

From long hours of training, endless writing drills, and unwavering support from coaches, parents, and community leaders, Alaguia ES proved that success is never achieved alone. The school’s campus journalists showcased not only their talents but also the collective spirit of teamwork and dedication that carried them to victory.

Five Learners Bound for CSPC

Leading the roster is Princess Mae Malanot, who emerged as Champion in Feature Writing (Filipino) under the guidance of Coach Cherrymer M. Bautista.

Joining her is Marx Dion J. Urcia, Champion in Science and Technology Writing (English), mentored by Coach Annie Celia R. Hernandez.

Also earning their tickets to CSPC are:

* Alaija Molina – 2nd Place, Science and Technology Writing, coached by Annie Celia R. Hernandez
* Leiah Andra A. Uñana – 2nd Place, News Writing (English), coached by Jocelyn A. Uñana
* Zanea Nyx D. Ubarre – 2nd Place, News Writing (Filipino), coached by Jocelyn A. Uñana

The success of Alaguia ES extended beyond the qualifiers, as several campus journalists also landed in the Top 5:

* Shervinz Abuan – 4th Place, Editorial Cartooning
Coach: Jovy Marañon
* Tiffany Hara Recto – 4th Place, Feature Writing (English)
Coach: Cherrymer M. Bautista
* Chryzia Ronquillo – 5th Place, Column Writing (Filipino)
Coach: Rencie Queen Apay

Meanwhile, the school proudly recognizes the efforts of its participants who courageously represented Alaguia ES:
Lhorenz Mer Molina, Chrissy Leigh Columna, Mark James Dumadag, Jhon Dale Battad, and Sandy Arquero.

Behind every award stands a network of people who never stopped believing. Alaguia ES extends its heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their trust and support, the Barangay Council for providing the barangay vehicle that safely transported the delegation, Brgy. Kagawad Sharon Ubarre for the free burgers for our journalists, and to the dedicated coaches who tirelessly trained the learners.

Leading and supporting the school community is our School Head Faustino E. Waña, whose encouragement and support continue to create opportunities for learners to discover and develop their talents as well as to our AO Daniel Oli, for his unconditional support and service to our learners.

And finally, heartfelt gratitude goes to the ever-supportive PSDS Dr. Raquel C. Marantan, whose guidance and encouragement continue to inspire both teachers and learners to aim higher and pursue excellence.

Their collective efforts remind everyone that when a community works together, young dreams soar higher.

As the five qualifiers prepare to carry the banner of Alaguia ES to the Congressional stage, they bring with them not only pens, notebooks, and determination, but also the hopes of an entire community. Their stories began in the classrooms of Alaguia, and now those stories will be written on a bigger stage.

Indeed, the triumph of these young journalists echoes one powerful message:

“Naregta nga Alaguia”—steadfast in excellence, united in purpose, and always ready to rise.
