NEWS| The Equation Begins with 11

Eleven educators gathered for a different kind of lesson—not to solve equations on paper, but to help pupils solve the learning gaps they face in mathematics.

The 11-member team from Maxingal Elementary School, led by School Head Janelyn M. Bautista, Principal I, participated in the Division Orientation on the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program in Mathematics held on September 24–25, 2026, at Lal-lo National High School, Centro, Lal-lo, Cagayan.

The orientation aimed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of the ARAL Program in Mathematics and prepare them for their role in providing targeted support to pupils who need additional assistance in learning mathematics.

For the 10 ARAL tutors, the activity provided an opportunity to gain guidance that can help them respond to learners’ varying needs, particularly those who require additional time, practice, and intervention to master essential mathematical competencies.

Behind the tutors stood Bautista, providing school-level direction and support as MES prepares to carry out its academic recovery efforts.

The team’s participation reflects a simple but meaningful equation: 10 tutors + 1 school head = one united effort for mathematics recovery.

As the orientation brought together educators from across the division, the MES team returned with a clearer understanding of the program’s purpose and their responsibility in bringing academic recovery closer to the pupils.

Because in the classroom, every number represents more than a mathematical value—it can represent a learner who needs another explanation, another opportunity to practice, and another chance to succeed.

For the MES team, the work now begins where every meaningful answer does—in the classroom, one pupil at a time.

This is stronger because the headline carries the creative hook, while the lead immediately tells the reader what the 11 represents and why it matters.

Maxingal ES Girl Scouts carry Escoda’s legacy

Leadership was put into action as the Girl Scouts of Maxingal Elementary School marked Escoda Day through activities centered on service, learning, and teamwork.

The Girl Scouts joined the observance honoring Josefa Llanes Escoda, founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, whose legacy continues to inspire young girls to lead through service and responsibility.

Anchored on the 2026 Girl Scout Week theme, “Lead On: Girl Scouts Carrying Our Legacy, Leading the Future,” the celebration gave the Scouts opportunities to put the values of scouting into practice.

Among the activities conducted were clean-up activities, reading sessions, and games organized among the different troupes, encouraging the Scouts to work together while developing camaraderie and a sense of responsibility.

The clean-up activity highlighted the spirit of service as the Girl Scouts worked together in keeping their surroundings clean and orderly.

Meanwhile, the reading activity encouraged the young Scouts to develop their reading skills while fostering a culture of learning and sharing.

The games among the different troupes added a lively touch to the celebration, allowing the Scouts to strengthen teamwork, cooperation, and friendship through friendly competition.

More than a commemoration, the activities provided the Girl Scouts with practical ways to live out the values represented by Escoda—to serve, to lead, and to contribute to the community.

As Girl Scout Week continues, the Girl Scouts of Maxingal ES carry forward Escoda’s legacy not only by remembering her contributions but by putting the spirit of service into action.

NEWS| Green efforts take center stage at Maxingal ES

What happens when a school’s green efforts are put under the watchful eyes of validators?

At Maxingal Elementary School, cleanliness, environmental practices, and sustainability took center stage as an LGU Validation Team visited the school on September 22, 2026.

The validators went around the school to observe its environmental practices and initiatives, looking into how the school community maintains a clean, orderly, and environmentally responsive learning environment.

Part of the validation involved engaging School YES-O Coordinator Ma’am Lanie G. Bolando and the YES-O officers in a series of questions about the organization’s activities, environmental programs, and efforts to encourage learners to take part in caring for their surroundings.

The exchange allowed the validators to gain a closer look at how the school’s environmental initiatives are carried out, while the YES-O members shared their experiences and participation in keeping the school clean and green.

More than the appearance of the school grounds, the validation highlighted the shared efforts of learners, teachers, and stakeholders in building habits that promote environmental responsibility.

For Maxingal Elementary School, keeping the surroundings clean and green is not merely about maintaining a presentable campus—it is about cultivating a school culture where caring for the environment becomes part of everyday learning and action.

With every clean corner, growing plant, and responsible environmental practice, Maxingal continues to make its commitment to a greener school visible.

NEWS| BACK TO LEARNING
PSDS Corpuz checks Maxingal ES readiness for term 2

Before the lessons gain momentum, classrooms must first be ready.

With the opening of the second term, Schools District Supervisor Dr. Anabel A. Corpuz visited Maxingal Elementary School to monitor the school’s readiness for the resumption of classes, accompanied by School Head Janelyn M. Bautista, Principal I.

The monitoring visit provided an opportunity to look into the school’s preparations, particularly the readiness of teachers, classrooms, and learning environments as pupils return to another stretch of academic work.

Beyond the physical setup of classrooms, the visit underscored the need for teachers and school personnel to sustain an environment conducive to learning—one where pupils can settle back into their routines and remain focused on their lessons.

For Maxingal Elementary School, the start of Term 2 is more than a return to the classroom. It marks another phase in the continuing effort to address learners’ needs, strengthen classroom instruction, and keep the school community moving toward its learning goals.

As pupils pick up where they left off and teachers begin another term of instruction, Maxingal ES opens a new chapter with a simple challenge: make every classroom ready, every lesson purposeful, and every learner given the opportunity to grow.

The monitoring visit thus served not merely as a check of preparations, but as a reminder that meaningful learning begins with a school community prepared to make it happen.

NEWS| MES teachers trade classrooms for learning hub on INSET opening day

For a day, the teachers of Maxingal Elementary School left their familiar classrooms behind—not to take a break from teaching, but to sharpen the very craft they bring to their pupils every school day.

MES teachers joined educators from across the cluster at Lal-lo North Central School on September 10 for the opening of the Clustered 2026 In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET), beginning a two-day journey of professional learning and collaboration.

With notebooks in hand and lessons to rethink, the MES teachers took part in the first-day sessions, listening to resource speakers, exchanging insights, and exploring strategies that could find their way into their own classrooms.

The activity gave them an opportunity to step back from the demands of daily instruction and examine their practices from a different perspective.

Beyond the lectures and discussions, the first day became a space for teachers to learn from one another, compare classroom experiences, and discover practical ways to make instruction more responsive to the needs of their pupils.

The sessions also introduced ideas on refining instructional plans and using modern learning tools—areas that can help teachers make their lessons more engaging and adaptable to the changing learning environment.

For the MES teachers, however, the value of INSET does not end when the sessions are over.

What they gather during the training is expected to travel with them back to Maxingal Elementary School, where new strategies can be tested, improved, and eventually woven into everyday classroom instruction.

In this sense, the first day of INSET marked more than the beginning of a training schedule; it marked another step in the teachers’ continuing effort to improve themselves so they can better serve their pupils.

Because behind every lesson that reaches a child is a teacher who also continues to learn.

NEWS| PSDS Corpuz rallies teachers to embrace growth, prepare learners for future

Schools District Supervisor Dr. Anabel A. Corpuz called on teachers to embrace continuous learning and strengthen their commitment to shaping resilient and future-ready learners during the opening of the Clustered 2026 In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET) at Lal-lo North Central School (LNCS) on September 10, 2026.

Corpuz emphasized that teachers play a crucial role in preparing learners not only for academic success but also for the challenges and opportunities they may encounter in the future.

Her message highlighted the importance of teachers being adaptable, reflective, and willing to learn as education continues to evolve.

She encouraged the participating teachers to make the most of the two-day training by approaching each session with open minds, active participation, and a renewed passion for teaching.

According to Corpuz, professional development should go beyond acquiring new knowledge, as teachers are expected to translate what they learn into meaningful classroom practices that respond to the changing needs of their pupils.

Her words also reminded the faculty of their shared responsibility to create learning environments that nurture confidence, resilience, critical thinking, and other skills essential for the future.

The Schools District Supervisor’s message set the tone for the training as invited resource speakers followed with focused sessions on improving instructional plans and incorporating modern learning tools into classroom routines.

Through the activity, Corpuz underscored that when teachers continue to grow professionally, they become better equipped to help their pupils navigate an increasingly changing world.

The Clustered 2026 INSET thus opened not merely as a week of training but as a renewed commitment among educators to learn, adapt, and teach with purpose for the learners of tomorrow.

While classrooms were quieter than usual during the Learners’ Wellness Break, preparedness did not take a break as Maxingal Elementary School (MES) joined the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Instead of gathering pupils in school, MES teaching personnel participating in the Cluster-Based In-Service Training (INSET) observed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol as part of the nationwide earthquake preparedness activity.

The drill gave teachers an opportunity to rehearse what they would need to do when an earthquake strikes—because when the ground begins to move, knowing what to do can make every second count.

With pupils on Learners’ Wellness Break and engaged in guided asynchronous learning, they were not required to report to school for the physical, campus-wide evacuation drill.

However, their absence from the school grounds did not mean they were left out of earthquake preparedness.

Pupils were encouraged to practice “Duck, Cover, and Hold” at home, preferably together with their families, turning ordinary household spaces into places where safety habits could be strengthened.

For MES, the activity highlighted that disaster preparedness is not confined to a scheduled drill or a school building.

It is a shared responsibility that extends from the classroom to the training venue, from teachers to pupils, and from school communities to Filipino families.

The Department of Education’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) directed schools and DepEd offices nationwide to conduct the Third Quarter NSED, while providing special arrangements because the scheduled activity coincided with the Learners’ Wellness Break and INSET.

Teaching personnel attending INSET were instructed to participate in the drill by performing the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol, followed by proper evacuation and accounting of personnel in accordance with established emergency procedures.

For the pupils of Maxingal ES, the message was equally simple: an earthquake can happen anywhere, and preparedness should begin before the shaking starts.

Through the NSED, MES reinforced a culture where safety is practiced—not merely discussed—and where every learner, teacher, and family member can become better prepared for the unexpected.

𝑻𝒆𝒏 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔. 𝑻𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔. 𝑻𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

Maxingal Elementary School is asking for everyone’s A-10-tion as 10 of its young journalists conquered the Congressional School Press Conference and secured their tickets to the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) in Solana, Cagayan.

Held on September 2, 2026, at Sta. Teresita National High School, the congressional press conference brought together young campus journalists who competed in various journalism events, putting their writing, reporting, visual storytelling, and creative skills to the test.

And Maxingal ES certainly gave everyone something to pay attention to.

Of the 10 Maxingal ES qualifiers, three emerged as champions, while seven others earned places from third to tenth. More importantly, all 10 secured qualification for the next level of competition—the Division Schools Press Conference.

The school’s three champions were:
• 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒂 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒂 𝑩. 𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒍 — 𝑭𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 1𝒔𝒕 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑹𝒂𝒇𝒂 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝑩. 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒂 — 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 1𝒔𝒕 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆

Following the champions were seven more qualifiers who turned their determination into impressive finishes:
• 𝑴𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝑩. 𝑷𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒏 — 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐 — 3𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝒀𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝑷. 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒊 — 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒔𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐 — 3𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒍 𝑱𝒂𝒄𝒐𝒃𝒆 𝑮. 𝑬𝒏𝒓𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒛 — 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 3𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒁𝒂𝒏𝒆 𝑮. 𝑹𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒔 — 𝑬𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 4𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑲𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒊𝒆 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒍 𝑳. 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒑𝒖𝒛 — 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 & 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 5𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒚 𝑨𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒉 𝑫. 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏𝒂 — 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐 — 9𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
• 𝑨𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝑲𝒂𝒆 𝑰𝒔𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒍 — 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 — 10𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆

Also taking part in the competition were:
• 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 𝑳𝒐𝒊𝒔 𝑩. 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒐, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒎–𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐
• 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒍 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒊 𝑷. 𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒂, 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈–𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉
• 𝑹𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒁𝒆𝒆𝒛𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑸. 𝑶𝒍𝒊, 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑾𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈–𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐

Their participation reflects the courage and passion of young journalists who willingly stepped into the field to share stories that matter. They embraced the responsibility of becoming brave carriers of truth, proving that every journalist has a voice worth hearing and a story worth telling.

From the top of the rankings to the final qualifying spot, each learner contributed to one collective achievement: 10 out of 10 Maxingal ES contestants are moving forward.

Behind this achievement was a community that believed in the power of journalism to develop confident, informed, and responsible young voices.

Maxingal ES extends its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the LGU Lal-lo, led by Municipal Mayor Florence Oliver B. Pascual and Municipal Vice Mayor Maria Olivia B. Pascual, for their continuous support to the school’s young journalists.

The school likewise recognizes Dr. Mark Kevin Agcaoili, LGU Information Officer, for the Project FACTS 2.0 initiative, which provided essential training and learning opportunities for aspiring campus journalists.

Through Project FACTS 2.0, aspiring campus journalists gathered at the Lal-lo Multipurpose Center on August 29–30, 2026, for a two-day Journalism Workshop featuring lectures and hands-on activities designed to enhance their journalism skills. The training served as another avenue for learners to sharpen their writing, strengthen their confidence, and prepare for the challenges of competitive campus journalism.

Behind every feature written, sports story crafted, news report developed, photograph captured, cartoon drawn, science story explored, and column written stood coaches who helped shape these young voices. The learners were guided by Crisadel O. Vega, Allan-Jan L. Vega, Ivy A. Columna, Flordeliza O. Colosaga, Michelle C. Ponce, and Floraida A. Marquez, whose dedication, guidance, and expertise helped prepare the young journalists for the 2026 Congressional School Press Conference.

Their efforts were further strengthened by the leadership of School Head Janelyn M. Bautista, Principal I, whose support provided the learners with opportunities to discover, develop, and showcase their talents in campus journalism.

Also contributing to the school’s continuing pursuit of excellence is Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Anabel A. Corpuz, whose leadership and support for quality education and learner development help strengthen programs that provide pupils with opportunities to hone their skills, build confidence, and showcase their talents and potential on bigger stages.

Now, the 10 qualifiers are ready for their next challenge.

From Sta. Teresita to Solana, their journey continues.

The stage will be bigger. The competition will be tougher. The stories will be more demanding.

But if the Congressional School Press Conference proved anything, it is this:

Maxingal ES has something worth paying attention to.

So, can we get your A-10-tion, please?

Because these 10 young journalists are not done writing their story yet.

10 qualifiers. 10 voices. 10 dreams. One Maxingal. And the next chapter awaits at the Division Schools Press Conference.
