Student Interns from San Lorenzo Ruiz School, Inc. of Lapu-Lapu City, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, The Abba's Orchard School – Cebu, and University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines – Cagayan de Oro explored the world of digital fabrication through 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CNC Operations, and Prototyping.

Together with The Frame, participants explored how to turn concepts into usable digital experiences using Lovable.Dev AI—guided by Chaz Grant Borromeo.

It was a night of building, testing, and rethinking how AI fits into the creative process—not just as a tool, but as a collaborator.

Following its return last March, THINK. MAKE. BREAK. continues its momentum with another powerful session held on April 29, 2026, in collaboration with The Frame.

Centered on the theme:
“AI Can Build It. But Can You Think It? Turn Ideas into Usable Interfaces using Lovable.Dev AI,”
participants explored how AI can go beyond generation—becoming a tool for intentional, human-centered design.

Led by Chaz Grant Borromeo, Design Engineer & Co-founder of The Frame, the session guided creatives, students, and builders through the fundamentals of translating ideas into functional interfaces—highlighting the balance between automation and critical thinking.

From rapid prototyping using Lovable.ai to integrating AI into real design workflows, attendees were challenged to think deeper, design smarter, and build with purpose.

More than just a workshop, the session brought ideas to life—bridging creativity and usability in a rapidly evolving AI-driven landscape.

𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | Fablab UP Cebu continues to welcome students and guests from across the Philippines for an engaging tour of its innovative spaces. ⚙️💡

The tour began with an overview of Fablab UP Cebu and its mission to promote creativity, innovation, and digital fabrication, followed by visits to the Co-making Space, 3D Printing Room, Laser Room, and CNC Room.

Guests also explored the Matix Library, Descomm Room, and Idea Room, discovering how these spaces and technologies support unique discovery, creative learning, and design thinking. 💻📚

CCAD proudly announces that the Bachelor of Fine Arts - Product Design program has successfully passed the 3rd External Quality Assurance (EQA) Review conducted on February 11–13, 2026.

The program received the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance) overall rating of “Better Than Adequate”, affirming its strong performance across key areas of instruction, curriculum, and student support. The results indicate that the Product Design program has exceeded expected standards (“Adequate as Expected”) and demonstrates significant strengths that contribute to a holistic educational environment that nurtures both creative and critical capacities among students.

The external review highlighted several strengths of the program, including its well-structured and up-to-date curriculum, constructive alignment of courses with program learning outcomes, and innovative teaching and learning approaches that promote active, creative, and industry-relevant design practice.

The program was also recognized for its robust student support systems, specialized laboratories and design facilities, and strong engagement with stakeholders, including industry partners and alumni.

These commendations reflect the UP Cebu Design Program's sustained commitment to quality assurance, continuous improvement, and the advancement of design education in the region.

This achievement is a testament to the collective efforts of the program’s faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners in upholding the standards of excellence in UP.

𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐏 | Celebrating 20 Years of Product Design ✨

Fablab UP Cebu students, faculty, and staff warmly welcomed the review committee for the External Quality Assurance Review held last February 11–13, 2026 at Lawak Sinehan.

Timed with the 20th Anniversary of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Product Design, the occasion was made even more meaningful through a special exhibit featuring 20 objects created by alumni of the program—honoring two decades of creativity, innovation, and design excellence.

As the exhibit comes to a close, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary talents of our alumni, students, and faculty for helping us celebrate and showcase twenty years of Product Design.
