ASIST- ETS spearheaded a training, titled “Marketing Strategy and Profitability Analysis of Native Swine” to help the Rebel Returnees and Women's group of Brgy. Labbaan Bucloc, Abra learn how to target market their businesses.
Dr. Zarina Marianette Balbin Orejudos , Extension Director, discussed the background of target market profiles, their purpose in business, why you should have them and how to build them.
“Creating and understanding target market profiles for your business can mean the difference between success and failure,” Dr
Orejudos says “Without taking the time to understand the people who are buying your product or service, you throw your net too wide and can miss the mark entirely, losing out on relationships and revenue. When you take the time to develop target market profiles, you learn who your audience is and can serve them content that attracts and retains them for years to come.”
Some of the speakers of the said training were; Mr. Jude Mark Tejero on the Roles of Training Advisories and Services during CoVid-19; Mr. Alex Biscara on Profitability Analysis and Ms. Jane Galiday on Enterprise Potential of Native Swine. The speakers provide the Rebel Returnees and women with access to learning, networking and professional growth opportunities.

Capacity Building of Extension Workers in ASIST headed by Dr. Zarina Marianette Balbin Orejudos Zarina Balbin improves adoption of Conservation Agriculture during CoVid- 19.
On June 5-6 2021, over 25 Extension Agents and Farm Workers met at the Caridad's Grill(Thanks Ma'am Mirasol Talingdan Zapata ) for a training session, conducted by the ASIST-ETS supported by Dr. Gregorio Turqueza, College President and Dr. Noel Baker Begnalen, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The "New Extensionist: Roles and Capacities during CoVid 19 Training" is being implemented using an integrated landscape management approach by the Implementing agency.
A key component of the training is capacity development of both Extension Workers and Farm Workers in order to improve adoption of successful approaches and technologies for sustainable management. Through this, capacities of community extension service providers, as well as lead farmers who provide farmer-to-farmer extension services, are being built through a series of training sessions to improve extension delivery in support of a transition to more sustainable and productive agricultural practices.
To encourage free exchange of information and maximise participation, Dr. Orejudos, Director of ASIST-ETS and Prof. Divinia Borgonia Eloisan, Training Coordinator, utilised a participatory learning approach when facilitating the training. Extension workers and farmers shared their experiences in conducting trainings in the different slopes and plains of the province.
Through a hands-on approach to extension worker skills development, the training sessions have created a platform through which new technologies and practices can be implemented, validated and integrated into existing local agricultural practices.

In this post, we gather lessons from past emergencies and show how ASIST- Extension and Training Department headed by Dr. Zarina Marianette Balbin Orejudos Zarina Balbin have adapted education and communication for COVID-19 among regular and continued outreach. We also make recommendations for ETS for future emergencies.
The COVID-19 pandemic is not the first time ETS have been called to action in an unfolding disaster. As an institution with trained technical staff who are trusted by communities, and with local reach and communication skills, extension has supported efforts and educated communities during crises.

This approach provides training and resources to future farmers to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to deliver on-farm and in-classroom education to inspire the youth in the province. This approach also has a range of classroom resources across all key stages and subjects to help teachers build curriculum-based lessons about food and farming.

The country’s agriculture sector is expected to play a major role in pursuing a socio-economic response framework to the Covid-19 pandemic recovery efforts.
The distribution of Agricultural supplies and materials to Pilar Rural High School is just one of the many projects of ASIST- ETSO headed by Dr. Zarina Marianette Balbin Orejudos Zarina Balbin which aims to rise stronger from this Covid-19 crisis, and one way to encourage the development of an agriculture-driven economy.
We believe that economic growth in agriculture is more effective at reducing poverty and food insecurity than growth in other sectors. Investments in agriculture can help revive food production and create jobs, following a crisis, and enable rural communities to recover.
