St. John the Apostle Academy

St. John the Apostle Academy St. John the Apostle Academy is a Catholic school in Labo, Camarines Norte, Bicol Region. Ma. The school was founded as an academic high school in 1961 by Rev. Fr.

The School's Humble Beginnings (The History)
๐—ฆ๐—ง. ๐—๐—ข๐—›๐—ก ๐—ง๐—›๐—˜ ๐—”๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—Ÿ๐—˜ ๐—”๐—–๐—”๐——๐—˜๐— ๐—ฌ (๐—ฆ๐—๐—”๐—”) was a component of St. John the Apostle Community Center located in Labo, Camarines Norte which was re-opened as an Agro-Industrial Secondary School in June, 1986 through the effort of the late Sr. Violeta Marcos, AMP, Co-Foundress and first Superior General of the Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines. Her love

for the poor, selflessness for work, justice and great value for Catholic and nationalistic education burned her heart to spearhead these endeavors for the benefit of the children of farmers, construction workers, fish and vegetable vendors and tricycle drivers coming from the neighboring barangays of the Municipality of Labo, Camarines Norte. Doroteo Salen and was run by the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation (ASOLC). However, in 1978, the school had to stop its operation due to financial constraints. From then on, SJAA was converted to St. John The Apostle Community Center (SJACC) which was focused on the formation of the Basic Christian Neighborhood communities marginalized in a number of barangays in Labo. It also facilitated Income Generating Projects (IGP) for the poor and the needy. In 1983, SJACC was affiliated with the Christian Children's Fund (CCF) as a Family Helper Projects that facilitated services for scholarship grants, income generating projects, value formation and other emergency assistance. These programs and services have lasted for ten years yet phased out in 1993. During those years when SJACC was operating as a center, the parents had repeatedly requested for the re-opening of the school. After some discernment, the religious community of SJACC requested the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation thru the Center Board to heed the parent's request. The Congregation approved the request in principle, so the tedious preparation and coordination with DECS began. Happily, in April, 1986, SJAA was re-opened and granted the permit to operate as an Agro-Industrial High School. This was the same Academic high school in terms of curricular offerings except that electives were focused on Agro-industrial subjects leading it graduates to pursue college degree or vocational courses. On March 20, 1989, SJAA had its first graduation exercises after the re- opening. The following year in June 1990, SJAA had been turned over to the Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines (AMP), a re-founding congregation. The congregation's Charism, Vision, Mission flowed down to the school's vision and mission with its expression in pursuing the transformative kind of education. It was on June, 1997 that the opening of the Grade One class was offered due to the persistent demand of the parents of the preschoolers. From then on, SJAA has been operating in three levels: Pre-School, Primary and Secondary School. The Grade One Course opened in June of 1991; however, the Permit and Recognition was approved in by then Department of Education, Culture and Sports -Region V, Legaspi City School Year 1998-1999. The Grade Six had its first graduation in March 30, 1998. From then on, this institution operates in three departments namely: Preschool (Nursery, Kinder, Preparatory to Grade One), the Complete elementary Course, The Complete secondary Course (Grade 7-10). In School Year 2015, SJAA opened the Senior High School Department (Grade 11 and 12) with the following Strands: General Academic Strands, Technical Vocational and Livelihood Strands major in Home
Economics with Specialization in Housekeeping, Food and Beverages Services and Cookery. The SHS first Graduation was in March 27, 2016 at St. John The Apostle and Evangelist Parish here in Labo, Camarines Norte. And the journey for academic pursuit and provision for a Catholic Education and formation goes on and continues...

As part of the 37th Re-Founding Anniversary Celebration of the Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines (AMP), the SJACC โ€“ St. John the Apostle Community Center (Labo Community) joyfully celebrated this meaningful occasion together with the children under its care.

The celebration was filled with laughter, learning, and love through exciting games, fun-filled animations, and meaningful activities. More importantly, the children were introduced to the different AMP communities and missions across the Philippines, helping them discover the beauty of a life dedicated to God and service to others.

By nurturing their hearts at a young age, we hope to inspire them to grow in faith, embrace the values of compassion and generosity, and perhaps one day courageously respond to God's call to religious life or missionary service.

The celebration was made even more memorable with a joyful fellowship and shared meal, where smiles, gratitude, and the spirit of family were evident in every heart.

May this simple yet meaningful celebration continue to remind us that every vocation begins with a seed of faith lovingly planted in the hearts of children.

Happy 37th Re-Founding Anniversary, Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines!

With grateful hearts, we celebrated the Thanksgiving Mass for the 37th Re-Founding Anniversary of the Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines (AMP), together with the Oath-Taking and Commissioning of the SJAA GSHOP and SSG Officers for School Year 2026โ€“2027.

The Holy Mass was solemnly presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Luis R. Ibasco, Jr., who reminded everyone that authentic leadership is rooted in humility, faith, and loving service. As our newly elected officers took their oath, they publicly committed themselves to lead with integrity, responsibility, and a genuine desire to serve the school community.

As we celebrate 37 years of Godโ€™s faithfulness to the Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines, may the spirit of โ€œOne Heart and One Mind in the Service of God and His Peopleโ€ continue to inspire every Augustinian and every Johanian to become humble instruments of Godโ€™s helping grace in our wounded world.

More than 260 SJAA students joyfully participated in the Holy Mass yesterday, and it was truly heartwarming to see many of them accompanied by their parents and families.

As a Catholic school, we believe that forming young hearts begins with leading them closer to Christ. By encouraging our learners to participate in the Sunday Eucharist from an early age, we help cultivate a lifelong love for God, the Church, and the Holy Mass.

May this beautiful witness of faith continue to inspire our Johanians and their families to make the Sunday Eucharist a cherished part of their lives. Together, let us grow in faith, hope, and loveโ€”one family, one community, one heart in Christ.
