Five Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC) Interns officially completed their internship with the RAISE Regional Knowledge Management (KM) Hub on July 6, 2026.

Krisha A. Agwayaway, Clinton M. Basilan, Guel L. Olman, Philip L. Nalimang, and Xyrus C. Pis-oyen concluded their meaningful 3-week journey from June 15 to July 3, 2026 with the research project.

Echoing the heart of their send-off song, "All We Ever Find," they shared a beautiful reminder: not every chapter lasts forever, but every experience leaves us with lasting lessons, cherished memories, and a stronger foundation for the future. As they movingly expressed, their time at RAISE KM Hub may have reached its finish line, but the knowledge gained, friendships built, and guidance shared are things they will carry wherever they go. This goodbye is not the end, but a stepping stone to more challenges, victories, and future partnerships.

𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗞𝗠 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗨𝗽𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗖𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

Strengthening the capabilities of its Development Communication (DevCom) partners while assessing the progress of its continuing collaboration, the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program Project 7: Regional Knowledge Management (KM) Hub conducted a Technical Upskilling and Partnership Review on July 8, 2026, at the RSDC Executive Hall, Old CHET Building, Benguet State University (BSU).

The activity gathered faculty members, Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC) students, interns, and KM Hub personnel for a day of technical learning and partnership assessment aimed at enhancing science communication outputs across the region.

Opening the program, Dr. Rowena G. Tello, Project Staff II of the KM Hub, thanked the participants for their continued commitment to the partnership and emphasized its long-term significance.

"Today is both a celebration of your hard work and a foundation for the continued partnership we'll be building until September 2027. Thank you for your creativity, dedication, and commitment to regional development," Tello said.

The technical upskilling featured two learning sessions focusing on visual communication and multimedia production.

Mr. James Patrick P. Aquino, faculty member of the BSU College of Arts and Humanities (CAH), facilitated the session on Advanced Canva Designing, where he discussed the fundamentals of effective graphic design and encouraged participants to create communication materials with purpose rather than relying solely on templates.

During the critique of the participants' Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, Aquino pointed out common design concerns, including poor color contrast and overcrowded layouts that lessen the impact of key messages.

The second session was facilitated by Mr. Ellejohn A. Bawang of the BSU University Public Affairs Office (UPAO), who discussed Promotional Video Development and shared practical techniques in visual storytelling, video composition, and editing.

Reviewing the participants' audio-visual presentations, Bawang advised them to maintain balanced audio levels, improve transitions and lighting, minimize dead air, and strengthen the connection between the video's narrative and the featured technology or project.

The afternoon session shifted to the Partnership Review, where KM Hub Technical Aide Ms. Joylyn C. Saley presented the accomplishments of the collaboration between the KM Hub and the BSU Department of Development Communication (DDC).

Saley highlighted that the partnership has provided opportunities for BSDC students to serve as masters of ceremonies during regional activities, participate in internships, and develop science communication materials while helping the KM Hub produce higher-quality knowledge resources. She also presented the partnership's accomplishments, which include 55 Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, nine audio-visual productions, eight development stories, and five communication plans.

KM Hub Technical Aide Ms. Felamy M. Sangcha-an then facilitated an open forum, inviting the student partners to reflect on their experiences throughout the collaboration.

Charl Enoch Amistad shared that serving as an emcee during one of the KM Hub's regional workshops helped him build confidence before beginning his internship.

Meanwhile, Khemler Pudos jokingly remarked that the technical upskilling came a little late in their internship, drawing laughter from the participants, before the KM Hub staff assured the students that they would continue to be involved in future project activities.

Expressing his gratitude, Philip Nalimang reflected on how the partnership strengthened his passion for Development Communication.

"Kasla rinumuwar diay eagerness ko nga ag-adal dagitoy nga skills ti maysa nga DevCom practitioner tapnu met matulungak ti sarilik ken dagiti tattao nga mangkailangan ti tulong ko metlang in the future."

("It feels like my eagerness to learn these skills as a Development Communication practitioner has grown so that I can help myself and the people who may need my assistance in the future.")

The ten student interns likewise expressed their appreciation to the KM Hub Technical Aides for their guidance, patience, and mentorship throughout their internship.

Department of Development Communication Chair Ms. Ivy Jane V. Miguel thanked the KM Hub for providing students with meaningful opportunities to apply their classroom learning in actual science communication activities.

She reminded the students that communication outputs carry real responsibilities beyond the classroom.

"Sa klase, okay lang mali dahil madededuct lang ang score ninyo, but in real life, maraming nakadepende sa output natin kaya hindi dapat basta-basta," Miguel said.

She added that the partnership challenged students to strive for excellence and gave them valuable experience in facilitating regional events.

"Ngayon masasabi ko na confident na ako na ang mga DevCom namin ay nagsisilbi nang tanglaw, nagbibigay-liwanag para sa komunidad natin na unti-unti nang naliligaw."

Project Leader Dr. Russell B. Dolendo commended the students, faculty members, and KM Hub staff for their dedication and commitment to the partnership.

"I can see the brains, the beauty, and the passion from all of you," Dolendo said.

She added that she deeply appreciated the partnership and expressed pride in the KM Hub staff, saying their dedication and genuine commitment to the project had been evident throughout the collaboration.

Dolendo concluded by encouraging everyone to continue using their talents in service to others and to always work "towards the glory of His name."

The activity concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Completion to Science Communication students who successfully produced communication outputs during the second semester, Certificates of Participation to the day's attendees, Certificates of Appreciation to the student interns who served as facilitators, and a Certificate of Appreciation to Ms. Miguel for her invaluable leadership and continued support of the partnership.

Through technical capacity building and collaborative reflection, the partnership between the BSU DDC and the RAISE KM Hub continues to strengthen science communication and knowledge management initiatives in the Cordillera Administrative Region, supporting the commercialization of agri-aqua technologies as the program advances toward the completion of its Phase 2 implementation.
