โOn March 3, 2026, the Covered Court of Benguet National High School became a venue of innovation and academic excellence as the STEM community gathered for the morning session of โEmpowering Resilience: STEM Research, Innovation, DRR and Fire Safety.โ
โ
โThe program formally opened with the Nationalistic Song and an Invocation led by Ms. Shenaiah Grace Chamollog, followed by the Opening Remarks of Ms. Mary Ann Malipe, STEM Coordinator. The Statement of Purpose was delivered by Ms. Chasterine Olayan, DRRR Subject Teacher, emphasizing the importance of research-driven solutions in strengthening disaster preparedness and community resilience.
โ
โAn introduction to the Grade 12 STEM Researchers was presented by Ms. Lea Olante, Inquiries, Investigation and Immersion Subject Teacher, highlighting the dedication and hard work of the young researchers.
โ
โThe highlight of the event was the presentation of selected Grade 12 STEM research studies focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), innovation, and sustainable solutions. The studies covered topics such as studentsโ perceptions on DRR programs, DRRM awareness and readiness, alternative energy innovations, earthquake-responsive systems, flood monitoring technologies, and laboratory automation systems. These research outputs showcased the learnersโ commitment to applying scientific knowledge to real-world challenges.
โ
โThe evaluators were formally introduced by Ms. Olivia Bagsangi, 11 STEM B Adviser, followed by the presentation of the criteria for judging and the viewing and evaluation of performance tasks by Grade 11 STEM sections.
โ
โThis event served as a testament to Benguet National High Schoolโs continuous effort to nurture critical thinking, innovation, and social responsibility among its STEM learners. Through research and collaboration, the school community moves forward in empowering resilience and promoting a culture of preparedness and safety.
