School Year 2026–2027 Opens with Ecumenical Service, Preparatory Activities, and Learner Wellness Sessions

The opening block of School Year 2026–2027 officially commenced with a meaningful Start of the School Year Ecumenical Service, setting a positive and faith-filled atmosphere as the school community welcomed another academic year. The activity highlighted the school's commitment to nurturing not only the academic growth of learners but also their spiritual, emotional, and social well-being.

The ecumenical service was spearheaded by the different spiritual leaders who support the spiritual development of the learners. Through prayers, worship, and words of encouragement, they invoked God's guidance and blessings for the entire school community as classes formally began.

The message of God was delivered by Pastor Patrick Banawa, who centered his reflection on the values of prayer and obedience. Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 3:5–6, he encouraged learners to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly and to acknowledge Him in every decision they make. He emphasized that genuine faith is demonstrated through obedience to God's will and reminded the students that seeking God's guidance in their daily lives would lead them toward wisdom, purpose, and success. His inspiring message challenged learners to face the new school year with confidence, integrity, and unwavering trust in God.

Following the ecumenical service, the school administration and faculty members proceeded with the finalization of the Junior High School class sectioning and the Senior High School class schedules. These preparatory activities ensured the smooth organization of classes and readiness for the formal opening of instruction.

In the afternoon, learners participated in a series of psychosocial activities facilitated by their respective class advisers and teachers. These activities provided opportunities for learners to reconnect with classmates, build positive relationships, and ease their transition into the new school year. Through engaging games, reflective exercises, and collaborative activities, students were encouraged to develop a sense of belonging, resilience, and enthusiasm as they embarked on another year of learning.

The successful conduct of the day's activities reflected the school's holistic approach to education—one that values spiritual formation, effective academic preparation, and the promotion of learners' mental and emotional well-being. As School Year 2026–2027 officially begins, the school community remains committed to fostering a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment where every learner is empowered to grow, excel, and become a responsible member of society.

SUMMER LEARNING: GBDAIS EMBARKS ON ACADEMIC LEARNING

While many are enjoying the long break, students and dedicated teachers at Gov. Bado Dangwa Agro Industrial School have turned the summer heat into a season of productivity and growth. The summer classes officially started yesterday, May 6, marking the beginning of an intensive yet rewarding period of academic learning. Learners came from Kapangan Central National High School, Kapangan National High School, and GBDAIS. Mrs. Maribelle C. Zaragoza and Mrs. Jessica B. Tamale will serve as their mentors.

True to the school’s commitment to excellence, the opening of classes was immediately met with active supervision and support. Under the leadership of School Principal Dr. Cherrelene A. Comom, the summer program commenced smoothly, ensuring that both teachers and students were well-equipped for the fast-paced term.

Adding to this support was the monitoring visit conducted by Ma'am Virginia Salioan, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) of Kapangan. Her presence served as an assurance that classes were conducted according to standards, facilities were conducive to learning, and the welfare of the learners was prioritized.

Aside from academic monitoring, additional supervision was also carried out regarding the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES). Notably, the student-workers will end their 22-day tenure today, May 7.

April 11, 2026, marked the dismantling and demolition of the condemned FCM (Furniture and Cabinet Making) old building, which was deemed unsafe. The successful dismantling was made possible through the collective effort and unwavering support of many dedicated individuals and groups. On behalf of the GBDAIS family, we extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, skills, and energy to this important task.

We especially acknowledge the invaluable assistance from the 2nd Company Benguet PPO base at Wangal, La Trinidad. Your presence and hard work were instrumental in ensuring the smooth progress of the dismantling. From Kapangan LGU & MPS, and Kibungan LGU and MPS lent their support, demonstrating commendable commitment. Additionally, there were many others who, despite not having their names recorded in the logbooks, showed up and gave their best to help.

We are deeply thankful to PCPT Arnel C. Abellera, the Acting Chief of Police from Kibungan, and Acting Chief of Police PMAJ Leonardo A. Buya from Kapangan MPS for their leadership and cooperation throughout the process. Their guidance helped maintain order and efficiency on site.

This endeavor was further strengthened under the supervision of Sir Paul Pantalone, the Physical Facilities Coordinator, whose expertise from the TVL department was crucial. We also appreciate the valuable contributions of Sir John Daculog, Sir Stanley Dio-as, and Sir Harris Barbosa from the property section, whose coordination and support were vital to the project's success.

We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ma'am Jane Angluben, former School Principal of GBDAIS, for her generous financial support, as well as for providing snacks and lunch to all those involved in the dismantling process. Your kindness truly uplifted the spirits of everyone on site.

Our gratitude also extends to the Local Government Units that provided essential coordination and support. We thank Mayor Agustin J. Tello of LGU Kibungan and Mayor Haris Dizon Sr. of LGU Kapangan for their leadership and assistance, as well as the Philippine National Police for their continuous backing.

To all who were involved, whether your names were logged or not, your efforts did not go unnoticed. The GBDAIS family recognizes and appreciates each one of you. This achievement is a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

Thank you for your dedication, teamwork, and generosity. We look forward to continued collaboration and mutual support in future endeavors.

Sixteen (16) Grade 12 students have been given the opportunity to work and earn through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), a government initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged yet deserving youth.

The students, identified as economically challenged but highly motivated, officially began their deployment on April 6, 2026, and will continue rendering service until May 7, 2026. The 22-day work period excludes weekends and holidays, allowing the students to balance their responsibilities while gaining valuable work experience.

The SPES initiative is implemented under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), specifically through its Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) office, in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Kapangan.

Assigned within the school premises, the student-beneficiaries assist in various administrative and support tasks, contributing to the daily operations of the institution. As of now, several of the students are actively contributing to the on-going beautification and improvement of the Makabayan Park under the supervision of Paul T. Pantalone, Head Teacher III, while others are assigned to conduct regular cleaning and maintenance in designated school offices.

Dr. Cherrelene A. Comom, School Principal III, expressed gratitude to DOLE-CAR and PESO-Kapangan for extending the opportunity to the students. “This program is a great help to our learners, especially those who are striving to continue their education despite financial challenges. It empowers them and gives them a sense of responsibility,” she shared.

The SPES program continues to serve as a bridge for young individuals to gain employment experience while supporting their educational needs, an initiative that highlights the government’s commitment to youth development and inclusive growth.

As the program progresses, the 16 students are expected to complete their assignments with dedication, bringing pride not only to themselves but also to their families and the community they represent.

March 31, 2026, marks a significant chapter for the Batch of 2026.

The theme for the Batch of 2026 is “Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character (Pilipinong Nagsipagtapos: Handang Mamuno nang May Kakayahan at Mabuting Pagkatao).” The confirming officer for the day, Dr. Judica B. Dasco, EPS Aralin Panlipunan, DepEd CAR, and the guest speaker, Engr. George A. Camhit Jr., Municipal Engineering Officer, both played crucial roles in ensuring that the graduates leave with a clear understanding of their responsibilities and potential, based on the year’s theme.

The GBDAIS family, headed by Dr. Cherrelene Comom, wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to our confirming officer, who truly set forth and generously gave her time to attend this memorable occasion. Her presence lent an air of authority and solemnity, marking the official transition from student to qualified professional.

On the other hand, our guest speaker, Engr. G. Camhit, shouldered the responsibility of inspiring the graduates and providing them with a broader perspective on leadership. His address was an opportunity to delve deeper into the theme, emphasizing that competence alone is insufficient without strong character. The speaker, a distinguished figure with a wealth of experience, shared invaluable insights on integrity, resilience, empathy, and ethical decision-making. He motivated the graduates to not only excel in their careers but also to lead with a strong moral compass, serving as role models and agents of positive change within Filipino society. Through his words, the speaker aimed to instill a sense of purpose and responsibility, urging graduates to embody the ideal Filipino leader, one who is both highly skilled and deeply principled.

In essence, Dr. Dasco validated the graduates’ readiness in terms of skill, while Engr. Camhit Jr. inspired them to cultivate the character that will guide their leadership. Together, they ensured that the Batch of 2026 is sent forth not just as competent individuals, but as leaders of integrity, fully prepared to shape a better future for the Philippines.
