Ayusip (𝘝𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘮𝘺𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 (𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘦) 𝘔𝘪𝘲.) or the Philippine Blueberry naturally grows in areas of high-elevation mossy forest that have high relative humidity, low temperature, and high rainfall. It requires a very acidic, well-drained soil with a pH of 4 to 5.5 for optimum growth, but it can grow broadly within 2.6 to 6.7 pH.

Since it prefers an acidic soil, it can be intercropped with Benguet Pine, with a recommendation of a planting distance of 3 m to 4 m distance from the tree. However, spacing should be farther when it's a bigger pine tree.

It should be remembered that Ayusip can be productive for a century if it is grown from seeds. Thus, it may no longer be productive if the pine tree grows big.

Benguet Native Pig Trade Name and Trademark Contest

Benguet State University (BSU) launches this contest to find the official trade name and trademark (logo) that will represent the Benguet native pig in all branding, promotions, and project materials. A trade name refers to the unique name that identifies the product in the market, while a trademark may be a logo, symbol, or stylized design that identifies and distinguishes the product.

CONTEST MECHANICS:
•The contest is open to all farmers, youth, women, cooperatives, Indigenous Peoples, faculty, students, and other community members throughout Benguet.
•All interested participants will submit their entries to their respective LGUs
•The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) will serve as the focal office, responsible for collecting, evaluating, and submitting the municipality’s official entry to the BSU Native Pig Project Team
DESIGN & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
•One (1) Trade Name with a brief explanation (max. 300 words)
•One (1) Logo (Trademark) with a short description (max. 300 words)
•The trade name and logo must be original and culturally appropriate
•The design should reflect Benguet’s indigenous identity and heritage
•The logo must be scalable and suitable for packaging, promotions, and digital use.

PRIZE AND RECOGNITION:

•Other participants will receive certificates of appreciation and tokens
•The winning trade name and logo will be officially adopted by BSU
•BSU may request minimal revisions if necessary
