We, the officers of the BSU-College of Information Sciences Student Government, affirm our collective support for the solidarity statement issued in response to the call of the National Union of Students of the Philippines, opposing the appointment of Senator Joel Villanueva as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education.

Our statement was made in the exercise of our responsibility as student leaders to speak on issues that directly affect education, public accountability, and the future of Filipino students. We recognise that student governments are not only organisers of campus activities, but also representatives of student welfare, conscience, and democratic participation.

We understand that the statement has reached a wider audience than expected. We welcome questions, dialogue, and even disagreement, provided these are made in good faith. However, we stand by the principle that students have the right to participate in national conversations, especially when the matter concerns the leadership of education in the country.

Should we be called to explain our position, we will do so respectfully, truthfully, and collectively. Should there be any request to take down or retract the statement, we will ask for the proper basis, consult as a body, and respond through the appropriate process.
We remain firm, but humble. We remain critical, but responsible. We remain open to dialogue, but we will not be easily silenced for raising a legitimate student concern.

For students, faculty, or members of the public who may have questions about our statement, we encourage them to reach out to the official channels of the College of Information Sciences Student Government.

Our call remains steadfast: leadership must be rooted in integrity, accountability, and genuine service to the Filipino people.

The BSU - College of Information Sciences Student Government stands in solidarity with the call of the National Union of Students of the Philippines in decrying the appointment of Sen. Joel Villanueva as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education.

At a time when students are struggling to stay in school, families are forced to choose between food and tuition, farmers are being buried by importation, inflation, and rising oil prices, the Filipino people deserve leadership rooted in accountability and service.

This proud, long-suffering nation needs a reprieve.

As students, we are taught to look to our leaders as examples of integrity and public service. But how can the youth take pride in a government that is increasingly consumed by political maneuvering and self-interest that eclipses even the machinations of Frank Underwood's House of Cards?

We plead to the Senate to remember its mandate. The nation is in dire straits.

We urge our good lawmakers to address the impeachment proceedings with transparency and urgency. Uphold the rule of law. Listen to the calls surrounding accountability and justice. Stand with Filipino farmers, including our own farmers here in Benguet, who continue to struggle for survival against unfair importation, falling farm gate prices, and neglect. Confront the worsening cost of living and the burden of relentless oil price hikes that continue to crush working families, students, drivers, laborers, and small communities across the country.

Prioritize the Philippines.

We humbly affirm that the future of the youth should never be treated as collateral damage in the ambitions of the powerful.

Student journalism has always demanded more than good writing. It asks for courage, discernment, patience, and the willingness to listen closely to the communities often left unheard.

Congratulations, Chief Armi BSU's incoming Editor-in-Chief of The Mountain Collegian!

As you take the helm, may you continue to uphold the spirit of journalism that informs, challenges, and serves with integrity.

The pages ahead will now carry your leadership, your voice, and your vision.

From the College of Information Sciences, our congratulations, Chief!

The newsroom is yours ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ
