| Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, through Executive Order No. 2026-57, has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions across the Province of Benguet on August 10, 2026.
The suspension is being implemented due to the continuous heavy rainfall brought about by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), further intensified by Typhoon βDolphin.β The situation has also resulted in numerous landslides and other weather-related hazards in various areas of the province.
According to DOST-PAGASA, Benguet may receive 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall on Monday, August 10, while 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall is expected on Tuesday, August 11. These conditions may increase the risk of flooding, landslides, and other hazards, particularly in vulnerable areas.
Governor Diclas urged all residents to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant amid the prevailing weather conditions. The public is advised to follow the instructions and advisories issued by their respective local government units (LGUs),evacuate immediately when necessary or when instructed by authorities, avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides; and
Stay updated on the latest weather bulletins and safety advisories from local authorities and DOST-PAGASA.
The provincial government continues to call on everyone to prioritize safety and preparedness as adverse weather conditions persist across Benguet.
Stay safe, kakailyan.
