| Governor Melchor Daguines Diclas, through Executive Order No. 2026-57, has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions across the Province of Benguet on August 10, 2026.

The suspension is being implemented due to the continuous heavy rainfall brought about by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). The situation has also resulted in numerous landslides and other weather-related hazards in various areas of the province.

According to DOST-PAGASA, Benguet may receive 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall on Monday, August 10, while 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall is expected on Tuesday, August 11. These conditions may increase the risk of flooding, landslides, and other hazards, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Governor Diclas urged all residents to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant amid the prevailing weather conditions. The public is advised to follow the instructions and advisories issued by their respective local government units (LGUs),evacuate immediately when necessary or when instructed by authorities, avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides; and stay updated on the latest weather bulletins and safety advisories from local authorities and DOST-PAGASA.

The provincial government continues to call on everyone to prioritize safety and preparedness as adverse weather conditions persist across Benguet.

Stay safe, kakailyan.

This measure is being implemented as Tropical Storm "MAYMAY" (KUJIRA), although already weakened while moving east-southeastward over the Cordillera, continues to bring significant weather impacts across the Province of Benguet, with heavy to intense rainfall expected to persist until Friday. As of the 2:00 PM PAGASA Weather Bulletin, Benguet remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 due to the prevailing weather conditions.

In view of these conditions, the extension of the suspension of face-to-face classes is intended to ensure the safety and well-being of students, school personnel, and the general public by reducing exposure to these weather-related risks.

The public is advised to remain vigilant, avoid non-essential travel, and continue monitoring official weather advisories for updates.

For emergencies or weather-related concerns, please contact your respective Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs).

Stay safe kakailyan.
