We officially welcomed our 4th-year SNAP majors back with a session dedicated to shared growth. Our seniors took the lead, passing down firsthand experiences, survival tips, and field stories to the 3rd-year students preparing for their own journey. It’s more than just a welcome, it is about building a community of future social studies teachers who support one another.

Every April 9, the Philippines observes Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) to honor the bravery of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II.

On April 9, 1942, the Bataan Peninsula fell to Japanese forces after months of intense fighting. The surrender led to the Bataan Death March, where approximately 60,000 to 80,000 Filipino and American troops were forced to march for days under harsh conditions. Thousands died due to exhaustion, hunger, and abuse.

Araw ng Kagitingan serves as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who fought for the country’s freedom.

Today, the nation remembers their service and pays tribute to the heroes who stood for liberty. 🇵🇭

PROJECT FORWARD 3.0: Breaking Barriers, Building Connections, One Sign at a Time

PROJECT FORWARD 3.0 was successfully conducted both onsite at the CTE DSG Hall and via Zoom, bringing together participants for a meaningful and interactive learning experience. The event featured an engaging sign language orientation and workshop led by Dr. Mari Lyn L. Balmeo of Saint Louis University. One of the highlights of the program was the hands-on workshop, where participants learned around 200 basic signs while gaining a deeper appreciation of Deaf culture and the importance of respectful and effective communication.

Through this initiative, participants not only developed foundational skills in sign language, but also cultivated a heightened awareness and a stronger commitment to inclusivity. More importantly, it inspired them to become advocates for creating more inclusive and accessible classroom environments.
