This July, the 𝐷𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐿𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑢𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑠, 𝑆𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑠, 𝑀𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑠, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑁𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑠 (𝐷𝐿𝑆𝑆𝑀𝑁𝑆) – 𝐿𝑎 𝑃𝑎𝑧 𝐸𝑥𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 joins the entire Cordillera Administrative Region in celebrating the heritage, traditions, and resilience that make our region truly one of a kind.

The Department of Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences (DLSSMNS) and the BA Political Science Program officially kicked off Day 1 of the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐀 𝟏𝟏𝟑𝟏𝟑 (𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭) 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 yesterday, June 30, 2026, at the Lagayan Civic Center.

𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐭, Lagayan, Abra, came together with our ASIST community for a full day of learning, dialogue, and action — from lectures on victims' rights and reporting mechanisms to workshops on identifying barriers and crafting real barangay-level commitments to fight gender-based sexual harassment.

A huge thank you to our amazing resource speakers, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐳𝐚, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐘𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐭, and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐓𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐫𝐨, our facilitators, our project staff, our BAPS students, and our partner BLGUs — 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐌. 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐨 and 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐉. 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 — for making this day possible!

This is just the beginning. Project ACT is a 3-year extension program (2026-2028) committed to building safer spaces and stronger awareness across Abra.

The Department of Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences held its 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 yesterday, June 29, 2026. Here is a brief update on the key matters discussed:

Faculty members are currently working on updated syllabi for all General Education courses. Students may expect improved and more organized course materials for the coming semester.

The department is gearing up for the Agency In-House Review (AIHR) 2026, scheduled on August 6–7.

Faculty from all program clusters — Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science, and Physical Education — have actively participated in extension activities this quarter as part of the department's commitment to community service.

For 8 years, Sir Tony led our institution with passion, hard work, and a genuine love for his people. Under his leadership, ASIST grew, our programs got better, and our faculty and students were inspired to do more. He was not just a president, he was a servant-leader in the truest sense.

Last June 9, 2026, Sir Tony officially ended his term as ASIST President and also retired from a long and honorable career in government service.

Sir Tony, your legacy lives on in every student you helped, every faculty member and staff member you guided, and every development you started.
