𝙉𝘿𝙈𝙐 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙝-𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 𝘽𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮

Beginning July 20, 2026, fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work students of Notre Dame of Marbel University officially commenced their field instruction through deployment to various partner agencies and institutions across South Cotabato. Interns were assigned to St. Vincent Strambi Home for the Aged Inc., Obed’s House Ministries Inc., MSWDO Surallah, MSWDO Tboli, MSWDO Lake Sebu, and South Cotabato Provincial Hospital. These placements provide students with opportunities to engage in diverse practice settings and apply the knowledge, skills, and values developed through their academic training.

The deployment was facilitated by Ms. Shela May S. Solmayor, RSW, and Mr. Angelo M. Estaniel, RSW, MSSW, who guided and formally endorsed the interns to their respective agencies. As they begin this significant phase of their social work education, the interns are expected to uphold professional ethics, demonstrate competence, and embrace every learning opportunity through meaningful engagement with clients, communities, and partner institutions.

The NDMU Social Work Department wishes all interns a meaningful and transformative field instruction journey. May this experience strengthen your commitment to service, social justice, and the social work profession.

Selected third-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work students from Notre Dame of Marbel University, together with the Social Work Department Head, Ms. Quennie Marie S. Zuyco, attended the first-ever Regional Conference on Population and Development (RCPD) on July 21, 2026, at the Antonina Hurtado Multipurpose Hall, 3rd Floor, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region XII, City of Koronadal.

The conference, organized by the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region XII, carried the theme, “Realizing the Hopes and Aspirations of Young People through Population and Development: Building Evidence, Strengthening Partnerships, Transforming Futures.”

The gathering brought together representatives from government agencies, local government units, the academe, civil society organizations, development partners, and young people to examine pressing population and development concerns and explore ways to strengthen programs and policies for the youth.

Among the key concerns highlighted during the conference was adolescent pregnancy as a population and development issue, emphasizing the need for coordinated interventions that promote the health, protection, education, and overall well-being of young people. The conference also featured research findings and local initiatives addressing adolescent pregnancy, social protection, child rights, and youth empowerment.

For NDMU Social Work students, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with current population and development realities in the region. It allowed them to gain deeper insights into the importance of evidence-informed practice, inter-agency collaboration, social protection, youth empowerment, and responsive interventions in addressing complex social issues.

The participation of NDMU administrators, faculty members, and students in the event also reflected the University's commitment to meaningful engagement with government and community partners in advancing initiatives that contribute to the development and well-being of young people.

The conference served as a meaningful learning experience for future social workers, reinforcing the importance of turning knowledge and evidence into responsive action and strengthening partnerships toward more inclusive and youth-responsive communities.

The Social Work Department of Notre Dame of Marbel University formally held the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Pinning Ceremony on July 16, 2026, at the NDMU BRC Convention Hall. Anchored on the theme, "𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘋𝘶𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘢: 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦," the ceremony marked a meaningful milestone for fourth-year Social Work students as they prepared to begin their field instruction and internship journey.

A longstanding tradition of the Social Work program, the Pinning Ceremony symbolized the students’ transition from academic preparation to professional practice. The event was graced by university administrators, faculty members, parents, and guests, including Atty. Rene M. Barrion, Administrative Vice President; Dr. Joan P. Palma, Academic Vice President; Dr. Wilter C. Friales, Vice President for External Affairs; Dr. Cecilie Sharon T. Porras, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and guest speaker Ms. Rhoda Leaf G. Catoto, RSW, Head of the Surallah Social Welfare and Development Office, whose messages underscored the values of purpose, integrity, compassion, and service.

As Batch DuaCendria steps into this new chapter, its members carry forward a shared commitment to service and positive change. United by purpose and strengthened by diversity, they are ready to face what lies ahead and make a meaningful impact.

The Notre Dame of Marbel University Social Work Department proudly congratulates 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗠. This prestigious recognition highlights his dedication to academic excellence, innovative research, and the advancement of social work education on the international stage.

Mr. Estaniel received the award for his oral presentation entitled, “𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦, 𝘈𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘐𝘯𝘤. On June 26, 2026, 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 participated in an Internship Orientation held at Creegan 2 as part of the Social Work Field Instruction I (SWFI I) course. Facilitated by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗠. 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, 𝗠𝗦𝗦𝗪, Internship Coordinator, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗦. 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, School Field Instructor, the orientation provided essential guidance on field instruction expectations, interns' roles and responsibilities, workplace protocols, and the professional standards expected throughout their practicum.

The orientation also featured a discussion on the 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 1995 (𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 7877) by resource speaker 𝗠𝘀. 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗣. 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮, equipping students with a deeper understanding of their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining safe, respectful, and ethical learning environments during field placement. Through activities such as this, students continue to strengthen their readiness for professional practice while upholding the core values of the social work profession.

As part of the 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙄 (𝙎𝙒𝙁𝙄 𝙄) course, fourth-year Social Work students of Notre Dame of Marbel University participated in individual interviews conducted by their Field Instruction Professors on June 24, 2026 at NDMU St. Augustine Room. This activity served as an important step in assessing each student's readiness, strengths, interests, and learning needs to determine the most suitable agency for their upcoming field placement.

This milestone signifies the beginning of their field instruction journey, where academic knowledge is translated into meaningful practice through supervised learning in partner agencies.

Ngayong araw, ating pinagdiriwang ang 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨’ 𝘿𝙖𝙮 2026, upang kilalanin ang mahalagang papel ng mga manggagawang panlipunan sa paghubog ng isang mas makatarungan at makataong lipunan. Sa diwa ng 𝙠𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙖, 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙮, at 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙝𝙞𝙪𝙨𝙖, ipinagdiriwang natin ang ating 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖, na siyang nagbubuklod sa ating propesyon.
