On May 7, 2026, the participants of the Training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Coconut Production conducted a field exposure and hands-on activity at Gernils Farm Learning Site for Agriculture. The activity aimed to provide the participants with actual field experience and practical application of the concepts and principles discussed during the training sessions.

Metarhizium anisopliae is a naturally occurring, entomopathogenic (insect-killing) fungus used as a biological control agent against various insect pests, including termites, locusts, and beetles, offering a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. It infects insects by penetrating their cuticle with spores, leading to disease and death, and is safe for humans, bees, and the environment. This fungus is a key component in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, with research focusing on improving its efficacy through better formulations and genetic enhancements.
