The SNED students of Koronadal National Comprehensive High School proudly celebrated a milestone as they finally harvested the fruit of their hard workโtheir chickens, which they had cared for since June, are now fully grown and laying eggs. What began as a simple prevocational lesson on chicken farming has bloomed into a meaningful and confidence-building learning experience.
From the early weeks of gently feeding and warming fragile chicks, the students showed dedication and responsibility. They learned to clean the cages, provide proper nutrition, monitor the chickensโ health, and ensure a safe environment for growth. Each day brought new tasks and lessons, helping students understand the value of routine and patience. As the weeks turned into months, they witnessed firsthand how proper care leads to healthy development.
Now, from December onward, the chickens have reached adulthood and started producing eggsโan achievement that filled the learners with excitement and pride. The first eggs collected symbolized not just a successful farming activity, but the studentsโ perseverance, teamwork, and growing independence. Teachers also expressed joy in seeing their learners thrive, noting how the project strengthened practical life skills and encouraged responsibility. Through this hands-on experience, SNED students truly harvested more than eggsโthey harvested confidence, learning, and a sense of accomplishment that will stay with them far beyond the classroom.
