Kadasig, the first offspring of Tsai (male) and LDI (female), hatched on January 16, 2003—marking a key milestone in Philippine Eagle conservation breeding. He is also the sibling of Viggo, the Philippine Eagle featured on the ₱1,000 bill.

Today, Kadasig plays a crucial role in artificial insemination and cryogenic preservation programs, helping safeguard his genetic material for future generations and strengthen the species’ genetic diversity.

Currently housed at the National Bird Breeding Sanctuary (NBBS), Kadasig was among the first Philippine Eagles transferred to the facility—an important step in expanding the country’s conservation breeding efforts.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Kadasig’s adopters, the Runes Family, for their continued support in protecting and securing the future of the Philippine Eagle.

A protein produced by the pathogenic bacteria Helicobacter pylori can block amyloid proteins from clustering, new research finds.

The protein, called CagA, stopped other infectious bacteria from creating protective, amyloid-dependent biofilms—and also prevented the assembly of amyloids tied to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and type 2 diabetes. https://scim.ag/3TkdTdo
