The year we stop shrinking, overextending, and pouring from empty cups just to keep others comfortable. This is the year we release the fear of disappointing people and choose peace over pressure. Saying โnoโ is no longer a weakness; it is an act of courage, self-respect, and self-love.
This is the year we listen to our hearts instead of outside noise. The year we trust that protecting our energy is just as important as showing up for others. We learn that rest is productive, silence is powerful, and choosing ourselves does not make us selfish; it makes us whole.
In 2026, we set boundaries without guilt and walk away from what drains us without explaining ourselves. We choose growth over approval, healing over habits, and peace over proving our worth. This year, we rise with clarity, grounded in self-worth, and confident in the truth that we deserve the same care, compassion, and love we so freely give to others.

Ever been told to tilt your head back during a nosebleed to stop the blood from dripping? โ Think again! This old wives' tale can be dangerousโblood flows down your throat, risking choking, nausea, or even stomach upset.
The Right Way (Science-Backed!)
โ
Sit upright, lean forward slightly, and pinch the soft part of your nose (just below the bony bridge) for 10-15 full minutes. Breathe through your mouth and spit out any blood. This clots the bleed at its source in Kiesselbach's plexus!
Why It Matters
Forward leaning keeps airways clear while pressure seals vessels. If it lasts >20 mins, call a doctorโcould signal something serious. Stay informed, stay safe!

I smile.
Not because Iโm okay,
but because itโs easier than explaining
why my chest feels heavy in a room full of light.
Anxiety whispers what no one hears.
Burnout sits in my bones like a second weight.
And depression?
it doesnโt always cry,
sometimes it just empties me
of wanting anything at all.
I show up.
I function.
I do what Iโm supposed to do.
They call it strength.
They call it resilience.
But they donโt see what it costs.
This is a war without wounds,
fought in silence,
behind practiced laughter and โIโm fine.โ
Stillโฆ Iโm here.
Breathing through the heaviness.
Choosing to stay.
And maybe thatโs my quiet victory,
to keep living
in a world that only sees the smile,
never the battle behind it.

Nursing has its own patron saint!
Meet ๐ฆ๐. ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐, ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ, ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐, ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ ๐ด๐ฎ๐บ๐ฏ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด, an Italian nobleman who served as a soldier during the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, long before he dedicated his life to the sick.
Before he found his calling, St. Camillus had an interesting histroy. He wasnโt as dedicated nor interested in the healthcare field. He was even deemed as a troublemakerโthe very opposite of a saintly caregiver.
Early in his childhood, St. Camillus was a gambler and a fighter, he even earned the nickname "big bully" due to his hot temper and big built. In 1571, he developed a severe abscess in his right leg causing him to seek cure at the hospital of San Giacomo where he serve there for a short time before he was fired due to his quarelling and gambling habits. He then return to the army where he participated with the Venetian Army and the Spanish army to fight the Turks, there, he once again faced close encounter with death making him wanting redemption on his sinful soldier's life.
He found work with Franciscans and was deeply moved by their faith, he then vowed to become a capuchin, in which he was not able to fulfill due to his incurable leg wound. He was then again readmitted to the Hospital of San Giacomo then worked there first as a servant, next as lower administrator, then a manager of physical plant and finally a general supervisor. Upon seeing the hospitalโs working state, St. Camillus was not pleased with the hospital's nurses as they were untrained and all of them were men who dislike their work. They often neglect their patients, left them unclean, making the disease spread fast. The hospital was described as "sordid" and "stank". The nurses often show disrespect to their patients, even failing to call the priest in to help the dying. Having no power to bring sweeping reforms at San Giacmo, he did what he only could: he arranged better food for the the sick, he called a priest to distribute Eucharist every week and encouraged Jesuits novices to come and help care for the sick. He gathered like-minded reformers to bring change upon the facility. Despite all of this he met opposition from other administrators in the hospital.
On August 15, 1582, he had a religious experience that convinced him that there was need for a religious order which would devote itself exclusively to helping the sick. Later on he established the Camillian Religious Order now known as the Order of Ministers of Infirm.
St. Camillus was not perfect, he's early life was not that of the life story of martyrs, yet he led a life of reform and devoted his life in improving the health of others. God made him his vessel, one where He touched his heart and soul so he could see the conditions of his people and help them alleviate it.
And just like St. Camillus, nurses, as well as we nursing students entered this profession not out of chances but out of calling. Despite the tedious work, the never ending studying, the stress, we continue to pursue this profession and even enrich our knowledge and skills through continous learning to provide better care and services to each patient.

White looks light. Clean. Innocent. From a distance, it appears effortless just fabric, just color. But to those who wear it with purpose, white is heavy.

Patients believe in white before they believe in names. Families cling to it during uncertainty. And with that belief comes pressure the silent, constant, and real.
White stains easily. Every mistake shows. Every drop of sweat, every trace of exhaustion, every failure to be perfect becomes visible. Unlike darker colors that can hide flaws, white exposes them. In the same way, those who wear white are expected to be flawless which calm under pressure, strong without rest, compassionate without limit.
But what people often forget is that white absorbs. It absorbs long hours, heavy emotions, unspoken fears, and quiet sacrifices. Over time, that absorption becomes weight.

Long before the stethoscope became a symbol of medicine, it began with a moment of human discomfort.
In 1816, French physician Renรฉ Laรซnnec was examining a young woman with heart symptoms. At that time, doctors listened to the chest by placing their ear directly on the patientโs body.
This simple experiment inspired Laรซnnec to invent the first stethoscope.

Over time, the stethoscope evolved: flexible tubing replaced wood, binaural earpieces were added, and modern acoustic improvements enhanced clarity, giving us the instrument healthcare professionals rely on today.
The invention was not only scientific, it was respectful. Born out of modesty and empathy,
