That is why bringing back the non-spiral science subjects in high school is a practical and necessary step toward better retention and mastery. Assigning General Science in Grade 7, Biology in Grade 8, Chemistry in Grade 9, and Physics in Grade 10 provides focus, continuity, and depth that the spiral system often fails to deliver.

In the current spiral approach, topics are introduced repeatedly but only in small portions. Students jump from Biology to Chemistry to Physics within the same year, then repeat the cycle the following year. Instead of strengthening understanding, this constant switching can create confusion. Maraming estudyante ang nalilito dahil hindi pa nila lubos na naiintindihan ang isang konsepto, lilipat na agad sa panibagong topic. As a result, learning becomes surface-level rather than meaningful. With the non-spiral method, students get the chance to immerse themselves in one discipline for an entire year. They can explore concepts deeply, perform more experiments, and build stronger foundations. For example, a full year of Biology allows learners to truly understand life systems, not just memorize terms for exams. The same goes for Chemistry and Physics, which require step-by-step mastery. Hindi minamadali ang pagkatuto, kaya mas tumatatak ang kaalaman.
Teachers also benefit from this setup. It allows them to plan lessons more effectively and specialize in their field. Mas nagiging organized ang curriculum at mas malinaw ang learning goals bawat taon. This leads to better teaching and better outcomes.

If we truly want scientifically literate students, we must prioritize depth over repetition. Ibalik ang non-spiral science subjects. Education should build mastery, not confusion. When learning is clear, focused, and continuous, students don’t just pass exams, they truly understand science for life.
