LATE UPLOAD: 1st Ifugao PMFC Conducts Survival Skills Session for Grade 12 Learners

In preparation for their Outdoor Recreation lesson, Grade 12 learners participated in a Survival Skills Session on February 20 facilitated by personnel from the 1st Ifugao Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The activity was initiated by Ms. Rachelle B. Diclihon, the subject teacher, who invited the team as partners for safety to equip learners with essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for outdoor activities. The session provided students with important guidance on safety precautions, basic survival techniques, and responsible conduct during outdoor recreation.

Six police officers generously rendered their time and expertise to ensure that the learners gained hands-on experience and valuable insights. Their presence not only strengthened the learners’ preparedness but also highlighted the importance of coordination between the school and law enforcement agencies in promoting safety and discipline.

The school community extends its heartfelt gratitude to the 1st Ifugao Provincial Mobile Force Company for their continued support and commitment to youth development and safety education.

LATE UPLOAD: School Community Unites to Complete Pavement Project for Learners

PTA officers, parents, barangay officials, teachers, learners, and other stakeholders came together on February 20 to successfully complete the school’s pavement project, which will serve as a safer and more conducive playing and learning area for students.

The collaborative effort highlighted the strong spirit of bayanihan within the school community. Notably, teachers actively participated in the construction, generously offering their time and physical effort alongside parents and volunteers to ensure the project’s completion. Their dedication reflects a shared commitment not only to instruction inside the classroom but also to create a better learning environment beyond it.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the PTA, led by PTA President Manuel Limangan, Jr., for spearheading the initiative and organizing solicitations to fund the project. Sincere appreciation is likewise given to all stakeholders and donors whose generosity and support made this meaningful project possible.

Through unity and cooperation, the school community once again proved that collective action can create lasting impact for the benefit of every learner. May all who contributed be abundantly blessed for their kindness and service.

LATE UPLOAD: National Museum Brings Cordillera Heritage Arts Workshop to Mungayang NHS

In celebration of National Arts Month, the National Museum of the Philippines – Cordillera, Kiangan, Ifugao extended its services and resources to Mungayang National High School through a seminar-workshop titled “Kamay Likha Kordilyera: A Hands-on Art Lecture-Workshop on Basic Weaving, Traditional Embroidery/Kuttilap, Muntalakid and Tuknul for High Schools.”

Led by Administrative Officer V/OIC Mdm. Mary Lydia G. Allaga, the activity forms part of the museum’s educational program aimed at introducing participants to the rich artistic traditions of the Cordillera. The workshop sought to ignite appreciation for indigenous craftsmanship by deepening learners’ understanding of cultural identity, heritage arts, and their relevance in contemporary society.

The initiative also served as an opportunity for the museum team to reintroduce the institution as an educational, cultural, and research center. Moreover, the program strengthened collaboration between the academe and the National Museum in preserving Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP), bringing learners closer to their cultural roots.

A short opening program was held at the school’s ICT Room, where the team was warmly welcomed by School Principal Laureen A. Lunag. Then Ms. Allaga provided an orientation about the activity and the role of the National Museum. The hands-on workshop immediately followed, engaging participating learners and teachers in actual weaving and traditional embroidery activities.

The meaningful session concluded at 3:30 in the afternoon with a brief closing program and appreciation of participants’ outputs, marking a successful celebration of art, culture, and heritage.

"DepEd Rules on Smoking and Drinking in Schools"
🔶For public schools, the Department of Education (DepEd) maintains an absolute ban on smoking and drinking. These acts are not just considered "naughty behavior"; they are classified as serious disciplinary offenses that trigger a specific legal and "restorative" process.
🔷Here are the specific guidelines for 2026:
⚪1. Smoking and Va**ng (DepEd Order No. 48, s. 2016)
👉DepEd has a 100% Smoke-Free Policy. This is the most comprehensive to***co control policy in the Philippine government.
👉Absolute Ban: Smoking and the use of e-ci******es or vapes are strictly prohibited inside the school campus, in canteens, and even during school activities held outside the campus (like field trips).
👉100-Meter Rule: It is illegal for any store or individual to sell ci******es or vapes within 100 meters of the school's perimeter.
👉No "Smoking Areas": Public schools are prohibited from having designated smoking areas. The entire campus must be 100% smoke-free.
👉Monitoring: The Child Protection Committee (CPC) of the school is tasked with monitoring and reporting violations
⚪2. Drinking Alcohol (DepEd Order No. 40, s. 2012 &
Learner Discipline Manual)
🔷Alcohol consumption is treated as a major infraction under the Learner Rights and Protection guidelines.
✅Prohibition of Possession: Bringing alcohol into the campus, even if not consumed, is a violation.
✅Classification: "Drinking intoxicants" or "entering school premises under the influence of liquor" is classified as a Serious or Grave Offense.
✅Restorative Justice: Unlike old-school "punishment," DepEd now follows a Positive Discipline approach. Instead of just kicking a student out, the school must provide interventions like counseling.
⚪3. What Happens If a Student is Caught?
🔷If a student is caught smoking or drinking, the school follows this standard disciplinary procedure:
❗1st Offense: Confiscation of items, mandatory parent-teacher conference, and referral to the Guidance Counselor for counseling.
❗2nd Offense: Suspension (usually 1–3 days) and a required "Behavior Contract" signed by the student and parent.
❗3rd Offense & Beyond: Longer suspension or a recommendation for Expulsion (which requires approval from the Schools Division Superintendent).
⚪4. The Role of the Child Protection Committee (CPC)
In every public school, the CPC is the primary body that handles these cases.
👉The CPC ensures that:
✅Confidentiality is maintained to protect the student's reputation.
✅Parents are immediately informed.
✅Referrals are made if the student shows signs of addiction or substance abuse.

✍️In Public Schools, these rules are strictly mandated by the Central Office. Public school teachers and principals cannot ignore a report of smoking or drinking; they are legally bound to document it in the school's "Incidents Report" or "Anecdotal Record."

JUST IN: School Holds Third Quarter General and Homeroom PTA Meeting

The school successfully conducted its Third Quarter General and Homeroom PTA Meeting today, highlighted by a very satisfactory attendance of parents.

In his opening remarks, PTA President Mr. Limmangan discussed ongoing efforts to address the lack of classrooms and learning spaces. He announced a ₱1.5 million budget from the Office of the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Raldis Bulayungan, for the initial construction of a school gymnasium, set to begin anytime this year. Parents and teachers welcomed the news, as the facility is expected to provide a more comfortable venue for school activities.

Reports on miscellaneous fee expenditures were presented by Mdm. Julie, while Sir Mangalab shared school accomplishments, particularly the construction of make-shift rooms for Senior High learners. He encouraged parents to personally assist when called, to ensure learners remain in class during school hours.

The meeting also featured the awarding of Certificates of Academic Achievement to deserving learners and their parents.

In her closing remarks, newly installed School Principal Mdm. Laureen thanked the parents for their support and assured them of her commitment to continue the programs initiated by former principal Mdm. Genevieve C. Cabbigat, now assigned to Kiangan National High School.

Following the general assembly, Homeroom PTA meetings were held, focusing on learners’ performance, attendance, and intervention activities in preparation for the fourth quarter.

ON THE LOOP II School Holds Installation and Turn-Over Ceremony

February 4, 2026 - The school formally welcomed its new leader through an Installation and Turn-Over Ceremony between outgoing School Principal Mdm. Genevieve C. Cabbigat and incoming School Head Mdm. Laureen A. Lunag.

Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Geraldine B. Gawi officially installed Mdm. Lunag as the fourth School Head to lead the institution. In her message, PSDS Gawi thanked Mdm. Cabbigat for her dedicated service and challenged the incoming school head to continue the programs and improvements already started.

Meanwhile, PSDS Vicente B. Buyuccan, Jr., former supervisor of Mdm. Lunag, impressed the crowd as he shared how the new school head effectively leads with commitment.

Mdm. Lunag expressed sincere gratitude to Mdm. Cabbigat for her leadership and service to the school. She accepted the responsibility with a promise to continue caring for the learners and teachers and to further strengthen the school community.

During the turn-over, Mdm. Cabbigat entrusted important school matters to her successor, emphasizing the welfare of both learners and staff. The incoming school head accepted the challenge and assured everyone of her dedication to serve.

The ceremony marked a smooth transition of leadership and a renewed commitment to quality education.
