Sta. Cruz Pingkian High School buzzed with environmental enthusiasm as learners from Grades 7 and 12 participated in a vibrant day of green initiatives spearheaded by the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) on March 19, 2026.
Madam Maribeth Reboton, the esteemed director of OISCA International- Manila (Philippines) Office, and Mr. Yasuo Mandai, the resident representative of OISCA Japan in the Philippines, led their dedicated teams, inspiring the students to connect with nature and contribute to a healthier planet. Their presence underscored the importance of the event and the strong international support for environmental education.
Grade 12 learners and OISCA Volunteer group took center stage at the SCPHS oval, their hands digging into the soil to plant young bamboo saplings. The learners worked with focused energy, transforming a section of the oval into a future grove of sustainable greenery.
Meanwhile, the Grade 7 learners embarked on a delightful "Nature Color Hunt." Armed with curiosity and keen eyes, they explored the school grounds, discovering the diverse palette of colors found in leaves, flowers, and bark. This activity encouraged them to observe the intricate details of the natural world, fostering an appreciation for the beauty and variety of plant life surrounding them.
The hunt culminated in an engaging "Eco-Printing" session. Using the natural pigments and textures they collected, the Grade 7 students created unique and beautiful prints on fabric. This hands-on art activity allowed them to express their creativity while understanding how natural materials can be transformed into art, further deepening their connection with the environment.
The event was further strengthened by the valuable participation of MENRO-Kayapa, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office. Their involvement highlighted the collaborative effort between educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local government units in promoting environmental awareness and action within the community.
Dr. Saturnino P. Calansi, principal III of SCPHS expressed his pride and gratitude for the successful event.
"Today, our learners have not only planted trees but have also planted seeds of environmental responsibility in their hearts. This collaboration with OISCA and MENRO-Kayapa is invaluable in shaping a generation that understands and actively participates in protecting our precious natural resources," Calansi said.
These activities were a testament to OISCA's commitment to environmental stewardship and youth engagement.
