📌 The Brigada Eskwela 2026 will be conducted from June 1–5, 2026 in preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027.
📌This annual initiative highlights the true spirit of bayanihan, bringing together schools, teachers, parents, learners, LGUs, stakeholders, and community partners to ensure that our schools are clean, safe, functional, and ready for learning.

The ARAL Summer Program officially commenced on May 6, 2026, and will run until June 2, 2026, at Kapangan Central School. The program began with an orientation program attended by both learners and their parents, setting a positive and engaging tone for the weeks ahead.

The opening activity was spearheaded by the school principal, Mr. Francisco M. Contero, who warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of continued learning during the summer break. He highlighted the school’s commitment to supporting learners in strengthening their foundational skills, particularly in reading and numeracy.

This year, KCS caters to 25 learners from Grades 1 to Grade 6 who have willingly participated in the program. The ARAL Summer Program focuses on enhancing literacy and numerical skills, aiming to help learners improve their academic performance in a supportive and interactive environment.

The success of the program is made possible through the dedication of volunteer teachers, namely Ms. Ferlyn P. Logro, Ms. Cherry E. Palaez, and Ms. Leslyn Colas, an applicant teacher. Their commitment and passion for teaching play a vital role in guiding the learners throughout the duration of the program.

As the ARAL Summer Program unfolds, it is expected to provide meaningful learning experiences, foster academic growth, and build confidence among the participants.

The First PTA and KCS Staff Year-End Evaluation and Fellowship, held on April 6, 2026, at Pugad, La Union, was a heartwarming and informal gathering that doubled as a Family Day. Parents, teachers, staff, and their families came together to reflect on the year in a relaxed and meaningful way.

Instead of formal discussions, the event was filled with open sharing of experiences, lessons, and personal insights. Parents and teachers spoke about what they learned throughout the year—both in school and at home. Stories ranged from light and funny moments to meaningful and heartfelt reflections, showing how everyone grew and supported one another.

The gathering also became a space for listening and understanding. Through these informal conversations, participants gained new ideas and a deeper appreciation of each other’s roles in guiding the learners.

More than anything, the fellowship strengthened the bond between the PTA and the school staff. It reminded everyone that beyond responsibilities, it is connection, teamwork, and shared learning that truly make a difference. As a Family Day, the activity also brought joy and closer relationships among everyone present. This day was also extra special as it became a day to remember for one of our KCS members celebrating her birthday—making her day meaningful and memorable amidst the warmth and joy of the fellowship.

Later in the afternoon, the group had a short visit to the home of one of the PTA officers, continuing their fellowship through a simple and meaningful get-together, further strengthening their sense of community and belonging.

The school also expresses its forever gratitude to all the supportive PTA officers who, in one way or another, have been part of every success of the school as a whole.

Kapangan Central School proudly celebrated its 1st-ever Women’s Day Celebration on March 13, 2026, 2:00PM onwards, with the empowering theme “Empowered Women, Stronger WE.” The meaningful event was conducted under the KCS: Happy We Project (TAG-inspired)—a growing school-based wellness initiative that has already sprouted numerous activities promoting well-being, inclusivity, and community engagement.

Anchored on the principles of DepEd Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives, the celebration also reinforced the provisions of Republic Act 9710 – Magna Carta of Women and DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2017 (Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy). Through these guiding frameworks, the activity emphasized the importance of gender equality, protection of women’s rights, and the creation of a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment for all.

The celebration brought together learners, parents, and school personnel in a shared commitment to honor and uplift the vital role of women in the community. It was graced by distinguished speakers who inspired and enlightened the audience. Hon. Maribelle I. Diclas, Municipal Councilor and a passionate advocate for women, served as the Guest Speaker, delivering a powerful message on women empowerment and community strength. She was joined by Resource Speakers Ms. Lorma Burgos, Barangay Kagawad and advocate against Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), and Mr. Aldrin Pagar, Nurse at Kapangan District Hospital, who both shared valuable insights on women’s rights, protection, and overall well-being.

Adding a youthful and engaging touch to the program, the event was successfully emceed by Grade 5 learners, Shawn Rolando A. Alunes and Marieta Palista, whose confidence and enthusiasm contributed greatly to the smooth flow of the activity.

The celebration was made more vibrant through the active participation of KCS learners and parents. Various contests were conducted, including a Poster-Making Contest and Letter-Writing Contest, both aligned with the theme, showcasing the creativity and voices of the learners in advocating for women empowerment. A Dance Contest also highlighted the talents and energy of the students, bringing joy and excitement to the celebration.

The success of the activity was made possible through the collective effort, cooperation, and support of all stakeholders—from organizers and participants to parents and community partners. This milestone event not only celebrated women but also strengthened the spirit of unity and shared responsibility in building a more inclusive and empowered community.

Indeed, the 1st Women’s Day Celebration of Kapangan Central School stands as a testament to the impact of the KCS: Happy We Project (TAG-inspired). The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) and Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) successfully conducted their Joint School Camping Activity on February 20 (after class) and 21, 2026 at Kapangan Central School (KCS).

On the first day, the Investiture Ceremony was held where the scouts officially took their oath and became full members of the scouting movement. Through this meaningful activity, they learned the importance of responsibility, commitment, and living by the Scout Law and Promise. The ceremony reminded them to be disciplined, respectful, helpful, and trustworthy in school and in the community.

On the second day, the scouts participated in various hands-on activities such as craftsmanship, knot tying, learning scouting songs, and creating arts and crafts using fuzzy wires. These activities helped them develop patience, focus, creativity, and teamwork. Team games were also conducted to strengthen cooperation, leadership, and sportsmanship among the participants. Throughout the activity, the scouts practiced discipline by following camp rules, managing their time well, maintaining cleanliness in their assigned areas, and showing respect to their leaders and fellow scouts.

The scouters were guided and trained by dedicated scouting leaders, namely Scouters Pangi J. Alilao Jr., Glory C. Jose, Dominga A. Binay-an, and Florence B. Bassit, with the full support of the School Head Francisco M. Contero, their co-teachers and co-workers from KCS.

Moreover, the success of the activity would not have been possible without the effort of the PTA Officers and the support of other willing parents who took charge of the kitchen and provided moral support to their children throughout the duration of the camp.

The camping concluded with an awarding ceremony to recognize the active participation and efforts of the scouts. After two days filled with learning, discipline, fun, and friendship, everyone went home happy and inspired, bringing with them valuable lessons they can apply in their daily lives.//

Kapangan Central School Concludes Transformative 2-Day Team Building and Wellness Program

The 2-Day Team Building and Wellness Program of Kapangan Central School, held at Santiago, Bauang, La Union from February 16 (6:00 PM) to February 17 (6:30 AM–6:00 PM), was more than just a gathering—it was a truly transformative experience for teaching and non-teaching personnel.

Day 1 centered on strengthening the “WE” through fellowship, shared meals, and meaningful conversations. The “Truth and Consequences” activity prevailed over laughter and playful secrets, encouraging participants to be honest, reflective, and open. It was a moment for self-discovery and appreciating the perspectives of colleagues, bringing to life the first two of the Three Acts of Goodness (TAG)—doing good for oneself and doing good for others.

On Day 2, guided by Ms. Emeelyn L. Takio, psychologist and Guidance Counselor, participants explored relationships, connections, and joy through activities on love languages and personality types. The day was filled with laughter, team-building games, and thoughtful discussions, emphasizing proper communication and teamwork. These experiences embodied the third Act of TAG—doing good for the community—as participants strengthened unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

Overall, the team building was truly a mix of laughter, games, learning, and self and team evaluation. Anchored on the Three Acts of Goodness (TAG), it fostered self-awareness, empathy, and collective responsibility, leaving everyone inspired to live out the spirit of KCS: Happy We. The program reminded all that understanding ourselves and others is the key to building a stronger, more connected “We.”//

KCS School Clean‑Up: Parents Join Forces for Brigada Plus I November 14-15

Our school is gearing up for a community effort: a joint clean-up and maintenance drive . Parents, teachers, staff, and volunteers are coming together in a spirit of bayanihan through Brigada Plus (an ongoing maintenance effort) and a special “Oplan Tulungan Para Kalinisan sa Eskwela” campaign. A clean school isn’t just physical—it contributes to the emotional well‑being of everyone at KCS.

What Parents & Volunteers Will Do:
1. Sweep, clean, and clear school grounds, and common areas, including weeding
2. Paint and make minor repairs
3. Plant and tend to school gardens or green spaces, landscapes, making our campus more vibrant and eco‑friendly.
4. Dispose of litter responsibly and organize materials, helping reduce clutter and promote cleanliness.
5. To transport chairs from the basement of the Gabaldon for relocation

This isn’t just a one‑day activity. With Brigada Plus, KCS is turning cleanup and maintenance into a year‑round effort. That way, our school stays in good shape not just when classes start, but throughout the year.

Parents who volunteer send a strong message: they care about their children’s learning space. Their involvement encourages other stakeholders—students, staff, alumni—to pitch in too. This builds a sense of shared ownership and mutual respect.
