ACC Opens Its Hampang Kitahanon Season for 2013
The Higher Education Department successfully held its Hampang Kitahanon (HK) Opening Ceremonies for the 2013 season on July 19, 2013 at the ACC gymnasium with no other than the newly-elected Representative of the Lone District of Aklan, Hon. Teodorico T. Haresco, Jr., as guest speaker. The gymnasium was filled with athletes and non-athletes alike from the different departments consisting of BASE (Teacher Education and Liberal Arts Department), BEAD (Business Education and Accountancy Department), CRIMSING (Criminology and Nursing Departments), HM (Hospitality Management Program) and ICS (Information and Computer Studies Department). The theme was “Setting Forth in Faith through Culture and Sports.”
One of the best features of the event was the lighting of the symbolic cauldron by six (6) student-athletes whose track records in the field of sporting events in Region 6 were all commendable. They were Rachel Pioquid (BASE), Carl Kristoffer Saluta (BEAD), Niño Felipe de Sullan (HM), John Louis Reyes (ICS), and John Ryan Abello (CRIMSING). Yjhel Kaye Luces and Anthony Zamora led the Athlete’s Prayer and Oath of Amateurism, respectively. The ACC Chorale, headed by its conductor, Uzziel Adores, sang the national anthem, Aklan hymn, and ACC hymn while Jahnn Jerald Gomez, Maureen Andre Antoja and other selected students gave a heart-pounding sing-and-dance number. James Ramos and Ma. Leonica Orbista were the program’s hosts.
The success of this endeavor was the result of a great collaboration between and among department heads and organizations such as Mrs. Carolina P. Gonzales (Student Affairs Coordinator), Ms. Melnor Langurayan (Sports Coordinator), Rommel J. Constantino (Cultural Coordinator), Engr. Leo Patacsil (Supervisor for Physical Infrastructure, Transportation, Security, Telecommunication and Maintenance Services), Miss Ann Portia T. Robado and Miss Aiza O. Nahil (Faculty, HM) and their Tourism 4 classes, Darren Naelgas (ACCSSG Adviser) and Miss Precious Ann Nidua (ACCSSG President). The Father-Rector, Rev. Fr. Jose Gualberto I. Villasis, Ph. D., made the official declaration of the opening of HK 2013. Games would be held every Tuesday and Thursday at four o’clock in the afternoon.
