SAINT GABRIEL COLLEGE STRENGTHENS INDUSTRY-ACADEME LINKAGE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH UNILAB EDUCATION AND UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI
KALIBO AKLAN- In a major move to improve industry-academe cooperation, Saint Gabriel College, through its School of Technical-Vocational Education (STVE) Department, was pleased to welcome notable academic and business leaders.
The institution hosted Atty. Jose Ochave, President of UNILAB Education, and Dr. Elyxzur C. Ramos, President of the University of Makati, in a meaningful engagement aimed at fostering innovation, employability, and global competitiveness among students—particularly within the Pharmacy Technology Department, last February 09, 2026 at SGC Audio Visual Room, Saint Gabriel College, Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan.

Highlighting the PQF Level 5 (Diploma) Program: Pharmacy Technology
One of the central focuses of the visit was the Pharmacy Technology, a flagship program under the STVE Department of Saint Gabriel College. The program demonstrates the institution’s commitment to producing competent, industry-ready pharmacy technicians equipped with practical knowledge and hands-on training aligned with healthcare standards.
The discussion emphasized how partnerships with industry leaders like UNILAB Education can further elevate the program through enhanced curriculum development, updated training methodologies, and stronger pathways to employment.
Unilab Education’s Vision and Strategic Focus
Atty. Ochave shared the purpose and goals of Unilab Education, emphasizing its mission to bridge the gap between education and employment. He highlighted three key focus areas of UNILAB Education:
1. Industry-Focused and Employment-Oriented Education with Global Skills
2. Technology and Simulation-Based Learning
3. Workforce Readiness
Atty. Ochave emphasized that collaboration with institutions like Saint Gabriel College plays a crucial role in developing a skilled Filipino workforce capable of meeting both local and international standards.

Dr. Elyxzur C. Ramos also provided valuable insights into the academic programs and facilities of the University of Makati. Through a presentation and virtual viewing of their school, he showcased innovative educational practices and infrastructure that support advanced learning and professional development.
His presentation served as inspiration for potential collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives that could further strengthen Saint Gabriel College’s academic and technical programs.
