You helped us see our strengths and weaknesses. We endured struggles and celebrated wins, but you reminded us that in every way, we can learn, adapt, and improve.

Having you beside us, reminding that a failure is not a permanent thing but a stepping stone to improve ourselves, makes every bug worth fixing.

𝗔 𝗚𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Ten standout students and faculty members from the Information Technology Department had the privilege of serving as audience members during the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 (𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗪), hosted by the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧 at the ABL Sports Complex last October 1–2.

From gaining valuable insights during the 𝘏𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘴: 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘱 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 to witnessing incredible innovations presented by students of Aklan State University at the 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘴-𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘴 𝘐𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘺𝘰𝘯: 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘱 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, we walked away with bright minds, an abundance of knowledge, and fresh perspectives.

Following its 24-hour ultimatum for Discord and Reddit to name a local representative in the Philippines, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (𝗖𝗜𝗖𝗖) confirmed on September 23-24, 2026 that only Reddit was granted an extension after its officials met with the agency to discuss safety commitments, including proposed "green lane" channels for flagging content tied to online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (𝗢𝗦𝗔𝗘𝗖), child abuse and exploitation materials (𝗖𝗦𝗔𝗘𝗠), and Nihilistic Violent Extremism (𝗡𝗩𝗘).

The crackdown was triggered by the September 18 shooting at Banga National High School in South Cotabato, the third school shooting in the Philippines in just a few months, with CICC Executive Director Undersecretary stating that "𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘵." The CICC has not issued a formal, telco-wide blocking order, and Discord itself reported no platform-wide outage, suggesting the disruption is localized to specific networks likely via DNS-based filtering; users have reported that switching their DNS to a public provider like 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲 (𝟭.𝟭.𝟭.𝟭) or 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗡𝗦 (𝟴.𝟴.𝟴.𝟴), or enabling Private DNS on Android by typing "𝙙𝙣𝙨.𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙜𝙡𝙚" or "𝟏𝙙𝙤𝙩𝟏𝙙𝙤𝙩𝟏𝙙𝙤𝙩𝟏.𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚-𝙙𝙣𝙨.𝙘𝙤𝙢" into the hostname field, restores access, alongside the more common VPN workaround, raising questions about how effective such blocks actually are even as the agency maintains that platform accountability, not blanket bans, remains its goal.
