ADVISORY

The Department of Education – Negros Island Region (DepEd–NIR) informs all Schools Division Offices, school heads, teachers, learners, and stakeholders of a recent incident involving a scam perpetrated by an individual pretending to be a DepEd employee. The person of interest, wearing a DepEd uniform, deceived four (4) high school students and took six (6) cellphones.

In view of this, everyone is directed to exercise utmost vigilance. Please be reminded:
• Only legitimate DepEd personnel carry official DepEd identification cards. Always verify their identity before engaging with them.
• Learners and teachers must never entrust personal belongings to individuals claiming to be from DepEd without proper validation.
• Any suspicious person or similar incident must be reported immediately to school and local authorities.

The Regional Office underscores that the safety and protection of learners and personnel remains its top-most priority. Let us remain alert and cooperative in preventing similar fraudulent acts.
