Nagpatupad na ang University of Southern Mindanao (USM) sa pamamagitan ng Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, and Business Development Office ng pormal na trademark licensing system para sa paggamit ng University Seal matapos lumagda ang pamantasan sa Trademark Licensing Agreements (TLA) kasama ang limang lokal na negosyo noong Agosto 24, 2026, sa Skyroom, Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
Lumagda sa kasunduan ang AJAA Elite Tailor, Ears Copy Center, Erprint Tailoring Services, Diego Printshoppe and Office Supplies, at SL Tailoring. Sa ilalim ng TLA, binigyan ang mga negosyo ng awtorisasyon na gumawa ng mga aprubadong merchandise na may University Seal, alinsunod sa mga pamantayan at kondisyong itinakda ng pamantasan.

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) participated in the 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 held at The Apo View Hotel in Davao City on August 6–7, 2026.

Representing USM were 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗕. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗺, Head of the USM Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO); 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗠. 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗼, IP Services Specialist; 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗔. 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, faculty member from the College of Business, Development Economics and Management (CBDEM); and 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗥𝘆𝗲 𝗠. 𝗡𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗼, Director of the Office of Legal Affairs. The team represents expertise that contribute to strengthening the University's technology transfer and commercialization ecosystem.

Following a series of online mentoring sessions, the two-day intensive writeshop aimed to finalize USM's proposal under the 𝗞𝗧𝗧𝗢-𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗡𝗫𝗧 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 for Technology Transfer of HEIRIT Universities of the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).

The initiative seeks to further strengthen the University's capacity for technology transfer and commercialization by providing mechanisms that help move research outputs and technologies from the laboratory to the market.

Before the conclusion of the writeshop, a mock pitching session was conducted, during which Dr. Marohom presented USM's technologies, programs, services, and the innovation ecosystem that the University has continuously developed and strengthened through the implementation of the USMart Technology Business Incubator (TBI).

The activity highlights that building a strong technology transfer ecosystem is not the work of one individual. It is a collaborative effort involving researchers, innovators, technology transfer professionals, legal experts, industry partners, government agencies, and the entire University community.

Together, we continue to transform research into innovation, innovation into industry, and industry into national impact.

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through its Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO), strengthened its capacity in intellectual property management and innovation support by participating in the Foundation Course on Intellectual Property and Introduction to New Product Development (NPD) organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Held from June 15 to 18, 2026, at the Intellectual Property Center in Taguig City, the four-day intensive training gathered personnel from Innovation and Technology Support Offices (ITSOs) across the country to enhance their understanding of intellectual property and its role in driving innovation and product development.
