Ngayong buwan ng 𝐀𝐠𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨, nakikiisa ang IMEAS sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2026 na may temang:

“𝙒𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙖𝙩 𝘼𝙄: 𝙆𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙨𝙞𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙏𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝙨𝙖 𝙔𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣.”

Sa bisa ng Proklamasyon Blg. 1041, taun-taon nating ipinagdiriwang ang 𝘽𝙪𝙬𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙞𝙠𝙖 upang higit na mapahalagahan, mapagyaman, at maitaguyod ang ating pambansang wika.

Ang 𝐰𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 ay salamin ng ating pagkakakilanlan, tagapagdala ng ating kasaysayan, at pamana ng mga naunang henerasyon. Ngayon, nasa ating mga kamay ang pagpapatuloy at pagpapaunlad nito.

Sa patuloy na pag-unlad ng teknolohiya at paglaganap ng 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐀𝐈), gamitin natin ang pananaliksik, teknolohiya, at AI upang mapalawak ang kaalaman at mapanatiling buhay at makabuluhan ang Filipino sa makabagong panahon.

📢 𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗦 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿𝘀' 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 2026

The IMEAS Department successfully conducted the 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙧𝙨' 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙨, led by the 𝙄𝙈𝙀𝘼𝙎 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 (LSG) together with 𝙈𝙖'𝙖𝙢 𝙅𝙝𝙤𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙖 𝙇. 𝙎𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙮𝙣𝙤, Cabinet Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

This activity highlights the importance of student leadership, democratic participation, and responsible governance within the IMEAS community.

𝙇𝙎𝙂 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 | July 29, 2026 | 𝙄𝙈𝙀𝘼𝙎

The Local Student Government (LSG) officers, together with our LSG Adviser, held a productive coordination meeting at IMEAS to discuss and prepare for the upcoming student activities and organizational initiatives.

Present during the meeting were Governor, Omar Ugalingan, Vice Governor, Hannah Mhia Fernando, Legislative Secretary, Norhudah Kalilangan, Budget and Finance Officer Monaisa Camino, and LSG Adviser Norjaida D. Maliga.

Key agenda discussed included:
• Freshmen Day preparations
• IMEAS Day planning
• Strengthening and organizing the LSG Office in preparation for the upcoming office equipment and supplies to be provided by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA)

Through collaboration, planning, and shared commitment, the LSG continues to work towards providing meaningful programs and a more organized student government for the IMEAS community.

𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗦-𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

‎July 23, 2026, 8:00 sharp, the IMEAS-LSG was already on it. We hit every corner of the IMEAS, sweating, exhausted at rainy days that had us running a little sleep. But we didn't complain, instead we worked until it's done. The cooperation and team work make the work more easier to do. The heavy work feels light when we have team work.

‎The secret wasn't strength. It was cooperation and team work. When we work as one, the job gets easier and it gets finished.

The IMEAS community actively participated in the University of Southern Mindanao Freshmen Orientation 2026, held from July 20–22, 2026, together with students from different departments and colleges. The three-day orientation introduced incoming students to essential university policies, academic procedures, student services, and awareness campaigns on sexual harassment, RA 9165, HIV/AIDS, RA 10627, and anti-hazing laws.

As you begin this exciting chapter, may this orientation serve as your guide toward a meaningful, responsible, and successful college journey.

Today, the newly elected USM–IMEAS Local Student Government Officers for Academic Year 2026–2027 officially took their oath of office, signifying their commitment to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and uphold the trust of the IMEAS student body.

The oath-taking ceremony was administered by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿 𝗔. 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆, 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦, marking the beginning of the officers' journey of leadership, responsibility, and service to the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies.

The event also marked the formal turnover of leadership to the newly elected IMEAS-LSG Governor, 𝗢𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻, symbolizing a new chapter of service, responsibility, and growth for the student body.

To honor their dedication and invaluable contributions, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the outgoing IMEAS-LSG Officers for Academic Year 2025–2026, recognizing their unwavering commitment and service to the college.

As one chapter closes and another begins, may the legacy of servant leadership continue to inspire future generations of IMEAS student leaders.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐧! ✨

Today, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 20, 2026, the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 – 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐒) officially opened its 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, warmly welcoming our freshmen, shiftees, and transferees who are set to begin a new chapter in their academic journey.

Students from the three academic programs—𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨, and 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨—gathered at the 𝑰𝑴𝑬𝑨𝑺 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒆 to learn about the university's vision, mission, values, academic programs, and policies that will guide them throughout their years at USM.

The orientation formally commenced with a heartfelt 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑨𝒅𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐣𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐃. 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚, 𝐋𝐏𝐓, 𝐌𝐀𝐄𝐝, Guidance Coordinator and IMEAS-LSG Adviser, followed by the introduction of the dedicated IMEAS faculty and staff through an inspiring video presentation. The newly elected 𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐒-𝐋𝐒𝐆 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐘 2026–2027 were also introduced and officially took their oath of office, administered by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿 𝗔. 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆, Director of the Human Resource and Development Training Office.

Participants were further oriented on the rich history of the University of Southern Mindanao and its founder, 𝘽𝙖𝙞 𝙃𝙖𝙙𝙟𝙖 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜, the University's Vision, Mission, Goals, and Quality Policy Statement, as well as the College's Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives, presented by the distinguished IMEAS administrators and faculty members.

During the second part of the program, department orientations introduced the academic offerings of IMEAS, highlighting the unique opportunities within the 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨 (with tracks in Islamic Law and Jurisprudence and Halal Studies), 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, and 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨. The orientation concluded with closing remarks that encouraged every student to pursue academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful service.

Although a minor technical issue with the sound system was encountered, it did not hinder the success of the event. The enthusiasm, cooperation, and dedication of everyone involved reflected the resilience and commitment that define the IMEAS community.

Today marks more than just an orientation—it is the beginning of new friendships, meaningful learning, and future leaders who will contribute to peace, diplomacy, and sustainable development.

The IMEAS-LSG started the preparation for the College Based Orientation held yesterday, July 17, 2026. This preparation brought together the newly elected Local Student Government (LSG) Officers as they geared up for the upcoming College-Based Orientation on July 20, 2026.

United by teamwork, dedication, and a passion for service, our LSG officers worked together to ensure that every detail is in place to provide the new members of IMEAS Family with a warm, organized, and meaningful welcome.

IMEAS-LSG at the 3rd USM LEAP Academy!

The leaders of Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies Student Organization-Local Student Government (IMEAS-LSG) proudly participated in the 3rd USM Leaders' Engagement for Accelerated Performance (LEAP) Academy, led by Governor Omar Ugalingan together with his Vice Gov. Hannah Mhia Fernando and Board Member Monaisa Camino. Organized by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and held at the Graduate School Hall, D.D. Clemente Building, University of Southern Mindanao (USM).

Conducted from July 13-16, 2026. The four-day session brought together student leaders to strengthen their leadership skills, enhance communication, and foster collaboration in creating meaningful impact within their respective organizations and the university community.

IMEAS-LSG extends its sincere appreciation to the Office of Student Affairs for organizing this valuable leadership development program. LEAP Academy isn't just about training. It's about turning everyday student leader's into strategic and purpose-driven change makers.
