They linked arms with every department in CASS and reminded everyone what loyalty truly looks like in action.

Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the martyrdom of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. A leader who sacrificed his life not just for his own freedom, but for the liberation of the Filipino people from dictatorship.
Despite knowing the grave threats to his life, Ninoy chose to return to his homeland. His unwavering courage remains immortalized in his famous words:
"If it’s my fate to die by an assassin’s bullet, so be it. But I cannot be intimidated by threats. I must go home."

In today's political landscape, his bravery serves as an urgent reminder: we must remain vigilant. Let us demand accountability, protect our democratic rights, and stand firm for the truth.

Cogitatores Moderni Societatis proudly took part in the diverse activities of CASSiyahan 2026, uniting creativity, intellect, teamwork, and passion.

From the lively sounds of the Pep Talk and Chant Competition to the elegant flow of Contemporary Dance, Cognians showcased their creativity through Poster Making and Essay Writing, and demonstrated their wit and knowledge in the Quiz Bee. Every activity served as a platform for showcasing talent, an arena for personal expression, and a reflection of the society’s lively spirit.

More than mere participation, these moments embody the spirit of Cogitatores Cogitatores Moderni Societatisa Moderni Societatisa society that thinks, creates, performs, and evolves as a collective.

With confidence, courage, and pride, 𝐀𝐜𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧, 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐨, and 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐳 proudly represented the 𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀 as candidates for the Screening of Mr. Freshmen 2026 during CASSiyahan 2026.

Homer Ortiz, hailed as 3rd Runner Up, adding yet another accomplishment to the society's involvement in the competition.

Beyond the outcome, Ace, Ronan, and Homer are honored for their bravery in taking the initiative, their self-assurance in standing tall, and their pride in representing the Cognias. Their time on stage was more than a fleeting moment; it was an expression of bravery, morality, and a readiness to shine.

As a new academic year begins, the Department of Social Science and Philosophy (DSSP) officially welcomed incoming freshmen with its kick-off department orientation.

Designed to guide students through the upcoming wave of studies, the event introduced crucial support systems, career paths, and job opportunities.

The program specifically highlighted the department's diverse academic programs: AB Philosophy (Pre-Law), BS Social Work, and the newest addition to the DSSP family, AB Peace and Development, major in Conflict Management.

An open forum allowed the faculty to comprehensively address student questions, providing clarity on academic expectations and future professional realms. As the orientation drew to a close, students stepped out with renewed insight and a deeper connection to their academic community, ready to embrace the challenges and transformative opportunities that await them in this new chapter.

The start of something meaningful often looks exactly like this.

From 𝑱𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝟐𝟎-𝟐𝟐 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the 𝐂𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬 welcomed its newest batch of AB Philosophy (Pre-Law) students through a three-day 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 that set the tone for the academic year ahead, marking their first steps into a larger intellectual and academic landscape.

Day one centered on introductions, as freshmen were acquainted with the University, the College, and the Philosophy program. They were introduced to key figures, institutional values, academic expectations, and the foundations that will guide their journey, turning unfamiliar spaces into places of beginning.

Day two focused on navigating university life, with discussions on student policies, academic processes, campus resources, and support services. It equipped students with the knowledge and tools needed to move confidently within the university system, transforming uncertainty into clarity and direction.

Day three highlighted awareness and responsibility, featuring conversations on student welfare, safety, mental health, and social accountability. It emphasized the role of students not only as learners, but as members of a wider community, grounded in both thought and responsibility.

The orientation culminated in a closing program filled with energy and pride, as the freshmen enjoyed free Carabao Milk from the 𝙐𝙎𝙈 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 and showcased their talents wits. This joyful finale affirmed that as Cognias, they enter not just as learners, but as contributors — prepared, informed, and ready to take on the path of philosophical inquiry, carrying with them the first sparks of what is yet to unfold and proving that they have something to offer and cannot be left behind.
