Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics student Justine Nova Tayabas of the College of Education (CED) was named the Class Valedictorian of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Batch 2026 graduating class.

Tayabas, who also serves as the Associate Editor of The Mindanao Tech, earned the distinction of Magna Cum Laude after obtaining a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.257, the highest among this year's graduates.

Her academic excellence and leadership throughout her college journey earned her the distinction of leading the university's graduating class, reflecting years of dedication and perseverance.

With the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck General Santos City and other areas in the southern region of Mindanao, the USM CED-LSG is 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 in collaboration with the 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻.

We invite members of the USM community and the public to extend any assistance they can to support ongoing relief efforts for affected individuals and families. Through collective action and compassion, we can help provide hope and aid to those facing the challenges brought by this disaster.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧!

The Future Secondary Mentors' Society (FSMS) has officially concluded its election for the Academic Year 2026–2027. A total of 409 students participated in the voting process, demonstrating their commitment to selecting the next set of student leaders who will serve and represent the organization.

The online election commenced on Thursday at 8:00 AM and officially closed 24 hours later on Friday at 8:00 AM through Google Forms, providing a convenient and accessible platform for all eligible voters.

After the completion of the voting period and the careful verification of all submitted responses, the official election results are now released. The process was conducted with fairness, transparency, and integrity to uphold the voice of every voter.

FSMS extends its heartfelt appreciation to all students who took part in this democratic process. Your participation reflects the strength of our organization and the value of student representation.

To our newly elected officers for the Academic Year 2026–2027, congratulations on earning the trust and confidence of your fellow students. May your leadership be guided by dedication, responsibility, and service.

The College of Education – Bachelor of Secondary Education (CED-BSE) proudly recorded an 86.79% passing rate among first-time takers in the 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (L.E.P.T.), while the national passing rate stood at 73.10%, according to the official results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Beyond the numbers lies a story of perseverance, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence. The achievement reflects not only the hard work and determination of the graduates, but also the college’s enduring mission of nurturing educators who are equipped to lead, inspire, and transform learning communities.

FSMS celebrates and proudly honors the LEPT passers whose passion for service and dedication to education will soon shape the minds and futures of generations to come. 🎊💐

Showcasing excellence in research and academic innovation, BSE student-researchers earned recognition during the In-House Review held on March 14, 2026. The event highlighted outstanding research presentations and studies from aspiring educators across different specializations.

For the Poster Presentation category, Nelson Erwin C. Durano of BSE Mathematics secured the 1st Place award, followed by Nystee Margotte Diaz of BSE Science in 2nd Place, and Marjen Baulite of BSE English in 3rd Place.

Meanwhile, in the Paper Presentation category, Nystee Margotte Diaz of BSE Science earned the 1st Place distinction, while Shaina A. Tandoy of BSE Social Studies claimed 3rd Place.

The In-House Review continues to serve as a platform for students to present meaningful studies, foster innovation, and contribute ideas that support academic growth and educational development.
