𝗔𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺

On May 22, 2026, the third year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students participated in an educational tour at Eden Nature Park and Resort, where learning and recreation came together to create meaningful and memorable experiences. Through exciting recreational activities and rides, the students gained a better understanding of recreation and leisure management while enjoying moments of fun, adventure, and camaraderie.

The tour became more meaningful through the orientation conducted by Mrs. Celia Urgel Sutton, Operations Manager, who shared the inspiring story behind the beginnings of Eden Nature Park and Resort and its commitment to sustainability and community development. Her discussion emphasized the importance of protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and creating opportunities that improve people’s lives.

The students also participated in workshops related to NCII in Beauty Care Services, Hilot Wellness Massage, and Hairdressing Services at Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao. During the workshop, Ma’am Arlyn Basquez, together with her team, shared their expertise and demonstrated different massage techniques and beauty care practices. The activity allowed the students to appreciate the skills, professionalism, and importance of wellness and beauty services in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Beyond academics, the experience allowed the students to relive the joy of childhood through laughter, adventure, and shared moments. As Ms. Dayoc shared, “Truly, it was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had,” while Ms. Cajandig expressed, “It felt good to be a child again—healing your inner child, being present in the moment, and simply enjoying the rides.”

More than just an educational activity, the tour became a treasured experience filled with learning, happiness, and unforgettable memories that the students will carry with them for years to come.

Aiming to strengthen the understanding of 2nd year BS Tourism Management students on tourism policies and regulations, the department successfully held a seminar entitled “Tourism Codes” last March 30, 2026. The event featured Dr. Jennifer B. Tupas, PhD, Municipal Tourism Officer of the Local Government Unit of Lake Sebu, as the resource speaker.

The seminar delivered valuable insights on the proper implementation of tourism codes and emphasized their significance in promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.

As shared by one student, Joey Rusiana, the seminar helped him better understand tourism codes and how they connect to their research and Tourism Policy, Planning, and Development subject.

Ang University of Southern Mindanao (USM) ay nagpapatupad ng mga sumusunod na hakbang upang matiyak ang isang malinis, maayos, at environmentally sustainable campus. Ang inisyatibong ito ay pinangungunahan ng Environmental Management Committee, katuwang ang DA–Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) sa USM.

1. 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮
Ang lahat ng sasakyan ay kinakailangang iparada lamang sa mga itinalagang lugar upang matiyak ang kaayusan at mapanatiling walang harang ang mga daanan sa loob ng kampus.

2. 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲-𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 (𝗦𝗨𝗣𝘀)
Ang paggamit ng single-use plastics ay mahigpit na kinokontrol alinsunod sa Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution No. 47, s. 2019, upang mabawasan ang basura at itaguyod ang paggamit ng mga eco-friendly at reusable na alternatibo.

3. 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮
Ang lahat ng miyembro ng pamantasan, kabilang ang mga panauhin, ay kinakailangang magsagawa ng wastong paghihiwalay ng basura at pagtatapon sa mga itinalagang basurahan. Sa mga lugar na walang basurahan, ilagay muna ang basura sa sariling bag at dalhin ito sa bahay para sa tamang pagtatapon.

𝗜𝗦𝗞𝗘𝗗𝗬𝗨𝗟 𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗣𝗔𝗗

Bilang pagsuporta sa epektibong pagpapatupad ng mga hakbang na ito, ang mga sumusunod na gawain ay itinakda:
• Abril 16, 2026 (Huwebes) – Awareness Campaign across the University
• Abril 20, 2026 (Lunes) – Full Implementation with Corresponding Corrective Measures
