The College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) โ€“ Department of Computing and Library Information Science (DCLIS) proudly announces the official issuance of the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office XII for its Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program, effective Academic Year 2026โ€“2027.

This milestone signifies that the BS Information Technology program fully complies with the minimum standards prescribed by CHED pursuant to Republic Act No. 7722, also known as the Higher Education Act of 1994. The newly donated kits further expand the center's growing collection of robotics platforms that support hands-on instruction, research, innovation, and project-based learning. These will complement the center's existing laboratory resources, including the Keyestudio Microbit 4WD Mecanum Robot Car V2.0 kits and five (5) VEX Cortex 5-wheeled robots, all previously donated by Dr. Vinluan.

The latest donation reflects Dr. Vinluan's unwavering commitment to advancing robotics education at USM. His support has consistently extended beyond equipment donations. In previous years, he donated the ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐•๐„๐— ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ž๐ฑ ๐ซ๐จ๐›๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ, personally facilitated ROBOTC programming training for faculty members and students, and later provided the Keyestudio Microbit Mecanum Robot Kits along with financial support for their chargers and batteries. Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc. (CPAVI), a subsidiary of Century Pacific Food, Inc., expressed its intent to establish a strong partnership with the University of Southern Mindanao โ€“ College of Engineering and Information Technology (USM-CEIT) to create meaningful opportunities for students and graduates in career exposure, internship programs, industry immersion, and future employment.

On May 13, 2026, Ms. Roslyn F. Acamo, Senior HR Supervisor of CPAVI, conducted a courtesy visit to the Office of the Dean of CEIT to discuss potential areas of collaboration between the university and the company.

CPAVI is an integrated coconut products manufacturing company engaged in the production and distribution of high-quality coconut-based products for both local and international markets. As part of its commitment to talent development and industry-academe collaboration, the company continuously strengthens partnerships with educational institutions to connect with highly skilled and competent graduates.

University of Southern Mindanao (USM) secured 1st Runner-Up in the Battle of the Bands (BOTB) competition of the PICE Regional Student Summit 2026, holding its ground and maintaining last yearโ€™s standing despite competing with a lineup largely composed of first-time performers.

The USM band was bannered by Aiman-Nor Musa, the lone returning BOTB participant, alongside first-timers Candice Duque, Bian Emmanuel Facurib, Reuel Magsico, Ronald John Secor, Eunel Dave, and Hanโ€™z Al-Ag.

Central Mindanao Colleges claimed the championship title, while Mindanao State University (MSU) finished in third place.
