"Teachers should be eligible for full retirement after 20 years of service."

Teaching is not just a profession; it is emotional labor, mental endurance and physical sacrifice rolled into one lifelong commitment. Every day, teachers stand in front of dozens of learners carrying different attitudes, struggles and needs. They teach lessons, yes, but they also counsel, discipline, comfort, guide, and sometimes even parent children who are not their own. After twenty years of doing this consistently, the toll on the body and mind is undeniable.

Unlike many office jobs, teaching does not end when the bell rings. Papers follow them home. Lesson plans stretch late into the night. Weekends become grading days. Vacations turn into trainings and reports. The stress accumulates quietly, voice strain, hypertension, anxiety, burnout. Yet society often expects teachers to keep going for 30 or even 40 years before enjoying full retirement benefits. That expectation feels unfair for a job that drains so much emotional energy daily.

Giving teachers full retirement after 20 years is not laziness, it is recognition. It is respect for their service and protection for their health.

Because teachers donโ€™t just work for years, they give pieces of their lives. And after twenty years of giving everything, they deserve to finally rest.
