Mindanao State UniversityโSulu successfully conducted the Inauguration and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of its newly completed Two-Storey Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Building on June 19, 2026, at the MSU-Sulu Campus.
The program commenced with an invocation led by Prof. Jardine M. Abdulpatta, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the MSU-Sulu Hymn. In his opening remarks, Dr. Nagder J. Abdurahman, Chancellor of MSU-Sulu, expressed profound gratitude to the Almighty and to all individuals whose unwavering support and dedication made the realization of the project possible. He emphasized that what was once a vision has now become a significant milestone in the University's continuing pursuit of academic excellence and institutional development.
In his message, Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, President of the MSU System, conveyed his appreciation to MSU-Sulu for the invitation and fondly recalled the warm hospitality of the Province of Sulu. He extended his congratulations to the University community for the successful completion of the TLE Building, recognizing its importance in strengthening the institution's educational programs and services.
Meanwhile, Hon. Abdusakur M. Tan, Vice Governor of the Province of Sulu, underscored the vital role of education in shaping a brighter future for the province. He highlighted how investments in educational infrastructure contribute to creating a more conducive learning environment, empowering students to achieve success and become meaningful contributors to the progress and development of Sulu. He likewise reaffirmed his steadfast support for MSU-Sulu's mission of providing quality education and its aspiration to become one of the leading institutions in the region.

The Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) of Mindanao State University-Sulu successfully conducted the Conference on Bangsamoro History: Focus on Sulu, with the theme, "Reflecting Contemporary Sulu History and the Right to Self-Determination." The activity was funded by the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH).
Serving as a continuation of the forum held on June 14, the conference provided a platform for deeper reflection on the historical legacy, identity, and right to self-determination of the Bangsamoro people.
Mr. Shermin M. Cabulao, Executive Assistant of BCPCH-Sulu, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of BCPCH-Sulu Commissioner Mr. Nurkadri J. Hamsali. Meanwhile, Prof. Nagder J. Abdurahman, Ed.D., Chancellor II of MSU-Sulu, delivered the keynote address.
Prior to the panel discussion, Prof. Hannbal H. Bara, Ph.D., and Prof. Rashmie G. Estino, DPA, delivered insightful lectures on Bangsamoro history, followed by a video presentation showcasing the previous programs and initiatives of IPDM MSU-Sulu.
The highlight of the event was the panel discussion, moderated by Mar-Udzna A. Sawadi, IPDM MSU-Sulu Secretary, during which participants actively engaged with the panelists through a meaningful and fruitful exchange of ideas. The activity concluded with the distribution of certificates and a closing message delivered by Prof. Altamir A. Salamuddin, MASS, IPDM MSU-Sulu Peace Research Coordinator.
Through initiatives such as this, IPDM MSU-Sulu continues to promote peace, preserve cultural heritage, and foster a deeper appreciation of Bangsamoro history, particularly that of Sulu.

As part of its continuing commitment to excellence and quality assurance, MSU-Sulu successfully conducted a three-day Quality Management System (QMS) Coaching Session on June 12, 13, and 15, 2026. The activity focused on strengthening institutional planning and performance through SWOT Analysis, Risk and Opportunities Register (ROR), and Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR).
Organized by the Office of Institutional Planning and Development under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, led by Dr. Kadafi A. Basaluddin, the coaching session brought together key academic and administrative units under the Office of the Chancellor to enhance their understanding and application of essential QMS tools.
Serving as resource person, Mr. Perfecto C. Cagasan Jr., MPA, guided participants through practical and results-oriented approaches in conducting SWOT analyses, identifying and managing risks and opportunities, and aligning office targets with institutional goals through the OPCR.
The activity equipped participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and a culture of quality across the University, further advancing MSU-Sulu's pursuit of organizational effectiveness and service excellence.

Amun Jadid marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar and serves as a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to faith, unity, and service. As we commemorate this significant occasion, we join our Muslim community in welcoming the new year with prayers for peace, prosperity, and blessings for all.
