May 9–10, 2026: The College of Fisheries at Mindanao State University-Sulu spearheaded a two-day training workshop on Aquasilviculture and Eco-Tourism in Angilan, Omar, Sulu. This initiative is part of an ongoing project collaboration between MAFAR-Sulu and MSU-Sulu.

The team conducted technical sessions aimed at providing participants with essential knowledge regarding the principles, techniques, and management practices of aquasilviculture and eco-tourism. The participants included community beneficiaries and Eco-Tourism Guards who are members and officers of the Angilan Culture Association.

On the first day, two Resource Persons shared their technical expertise. Ma’am Fardia J. Abduhsad, RFP (OIC-Chief of the Fisheries Division at MAFAR-Sulu), discussed the "Principles and Practices of Mangrove Aquasilviculture," while Ma’am Sulirma Sabtula, RFP (OIC-Chief of the Fishery Resource Management Section at MAFAR-Sulu), presented on the "Effective Management of Eco-Tourism Destinations."

On the second day, additional experts shared their insights. Mr. Al-nasrif Kissae and Ms. Khadiza Imlan—both faculty members of the MSU-Sulu College of Fisheries holding Master of Science degrees in Aquaculture—led discussions on "Marine Biodiversity Conservation and Protected Area Delineation" and "Community Stewardship and Environmental Protection Laws."
