Even after an upset on his first heat due to a late start, he steeled himself defied all odds securing a podium finish.

JNHS competes at RSPC 2025 in Siquijor

With azure blue waters right off the dock, campus journalists of Jimalalud National High School (JNHS) set sail to Siquijor to represent the Division of Negros Oriental for the 2025 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held on February 24-28, 2025.

Over 19 campus journalists and five teacher-coaches, JNHS made waves at Isla Del Fuego, all vying and putting their best efforts for their respective categories.

"It was a great experience. Even though the road was tough, it wasn't the destination that made it worthwhile; it was the journey," said Nash Gabriel V. Bontigao, member of Collaborative Desktop Publishing (English), when asked about his experience at the recently held event.

Copyreader and Headline Writer (English) Aike Wilson D. Del Valle also expressed that his once manifestations became a reality, having to qualify for the RSPC 2025.

The Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting (Filipino) team also bagged 4th Best in Technical Application and 5th Best News Anchor in the recently held RSPC 2025.

"As an NSPC Qualifier last year, I felt double the pressure. However, I am also grateful because I made it to the RSPC. Still, it was very stressful since I had a title to defend," Radio Scriptwriter and Broadcaster (Filipino) Camyl G. Palo said in an interview when asked about her thoughts on being a qualifier in the regional level.

"Whatever happens, at least you did your best," JNHS delegates believe. "Having reached the RSPC is already an achievement."

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁

The excitement and thrill of practicing and improving your skills are
fundamental to victory. But what if it isn’t enough?

Before the competition began, each journalist worked hard, studied until dawn broke, and gave their best efforts to win. But when the results came in, they thought their efforts were futile. But no, what the journalists experienced and learned before and after their “defeat” was worth more than even the greatest victories.

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently”, is a quote from Henry Ford that resonates with any person who has experienced defeat, but let’s face it, everyone has fallen behind at least once. It is failure and mistakes that make a human.

The realization of your defeat and determination to try again boost your chance of winning exponentially. Even with information like this, some people think that whatever they are doing to try to win again is just going to end up in the trash in the future. They give up and cut ties with their passion. But with a mentality like that, maybe winning was never in your vocabulary.

Truly, defeat is never the end of it, neither is victory. A person who is true to themself knows that the journey to succeeding is never-ending. This path may be bumpy but if you genuinely want to do your all, you would do it.

Never be someone who gives up easily, have determination, and be strong and resilient against what may be keeping you away from your goal. Be the hero and author of your story.

Your determination and effort are never futile. Those two alone are what should make you drive for the best outcome. If you know that you love what you’re doing, and striving for the best conclusion then whenever you want to win, you have already won.

The 30th founding anniversary was a much-anticipated milestone for the school, featuring events designed to unite students, teachers, and visitors. The highlight of the first day was the Students’ Night, organized by the Supreme Student Leader Government (SSLG). It began with great promise—a stunning sunset, vibrant lantern parades lighting up Jimalalud’s streets, and lively drumbeats that electrified the crowd. Yet, what started as a celebration of unity and joy took a sharp turn when chaos erupted, leading to the event’s abrupt cancellation.

School celebrations are meant to foster camaraderie, creativity, and a break from academic rigor. They provide a stage for students to showcase their talents, build friendships, and immerse themselves in the vibrancy of school life. But when such events are marred by misconduct—fights, arguments, or general disorder—their purpose is undermined, leaving a lasting stain on what should have been cherished memories.

This raises an important question: who is accountable for the success or failure of these occasions? While organizers must ensure clear rules, adequate security, and careful planning, students, too, bear responsibility for maintaining discipline and respect. Celebrations should be moments of unity, not discord.

Despite the challenges, school events remain valuable. Their success depends on the shared commitment of educators, parents, and students to uphold the values of respect, inclusivity, and responsibility. When done right, these occasions can inspire and unite; when mishandled, they serve as cautionary tales.

Let us learn from incidents like these to ensure school celebrations remain what they are meant to be—a true reflection of the spirit of education and community.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗛𝗘, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴

"Always go back to where you came from"—beyond grateful for the people who molded her into what she is today, now it is her turn to give back to where she came from.

In the halls of what we consider our second home, a new leader is emerging—someone poised to reshape the future of the alumni association. Braced with determination and a clear vision for growth and connection, she is ready to make yet another greatness to happen. She is Krishna Jane Ibero Quiñanola, the ever-so-dynamic MAPEH teacher and grade 10 adviser, and newly elected president of the alumni association.

Krishna's journey in pursuing such a huge role began years ago when she was just a student at Jimalalud National High School. Inside the very same classrooms we enter today, she was guided by her educators to bloom into the kind person and the leader she is today. Her deep connection and love for the school that opened so many possibilities for her is what keeps her inspired to strive for the betterment of JNHS.

Krishna has a set of goals she would like to accomplish during her time as the president of the alumni association. One of her visions is an established association wherein it is active all throughout, and not just during founding anniversaries and homecomings, but rather an organization with projects and contributions to the school.

To make this vision of hers happen, she would like to register the alumni association with the sect, where every year each graduate must be a member and take oath to the alumni association. As for future projects, a membership of 100 pesos is to be proposed to the alumni, so when agreed upon, it will serve as a budget within the association that they may use to give back to the school.

In setting up her goals, she didn't just consider what future projects she would pull off; instead, she also aims to make the alumni feel that they are truly home and give them a sense of pride that they too had contributed meaningfully to the school where they flourished and were trained to become the person they are now.

Krishna Jane's time is yet to start, but with her passion to do her best for JNHS, for the alumni, and for the entire JimaNaHSian family, it is certain that she indeed is a legacy in making.

The campus was abuzz with excitement as students and teachers came together for a memorable United Nations Month Celebration at Jimalalud National High School (JNHS) on October 30, 2024.

Our hosts, John Marky Gargarita, Mariecho Fabillar, and Camyl Palo welcomed everyone with their cheerful tone, and our Araling Panlipunan Teacher Coordinator, Mr. Jethor S. Lindayao, proudly ensured everything ran smoothly.

The highlight of the program was the teacher-student singing competition, featuring 11 talented pairs. Each performance reflected love and peace.

The top three winners were Ma’am Gwyneth Beth Cadeau and Hannah Mae Lambo, the champions; Sir John Rey Cadiente and Mazelle Gocotano as first runner-up; and Sir Cyril Torres and Joella Jane Abella as second runner-up.

United Nations Month 2024 highlighted our school's unity and talent. Here’s to many more memorable celebrations!

Jimalalud National High School (JNHS) announces the winners of this year's intramurals held on October 1-18, during its closing program of Pakusganay 2024.

After two weeks, Jimanahshians were thrilled and excited to see who podiumed in each category of each sport event.

In Category A, Grade 8-Palomar dominates as the overall champion this year, garnering a total of 5 gold medals, followed by Grade 8-Bulac as the second overall champion garnering 4 gold medals, and Grade 8-Chin as the third overall champion, garnering 3 gold medals.

Meanwhile in Category B, the overall champion this year is Grade 10-Quiñanola, garnering a total of 7 gold medals, followed by the second overall champion, Grade 9-Mongcopa, garnering 6 gold medals, and the third overall champion, Grade 10-Baylon, garnering 5 gold medals.

Lastly in Category C, Grade 12-Athena was crowned this year's overall champion, garnering a total of 10 gold medals, followed by Grade 11-Safari as the second overall champion, garnering 4 gold medals, and the third overall champion, Grade 12-Artemis, garnering 4 gold medals.

𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗗

Jimalalud National High School (JNHS) competes in the Division Science and Technology Fair (DSTF), held at Negros Oriental High School, Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, last October 16, 2024.

The school joined the categories Wildlife Quizbee, Robotics Game, and Digituro.

The Digituro team, loud and proud, won out of all the schools, with Sir Michael Angelo B. Palomar and his team, Leigh V. Zamora, Nash V. Bontigao, and James Jayme.

Meanwhile, the school also aced the Wildlife Quiz Bowl by ranking 4th out of 17 pairs, with Chezca Diana Marie C. Aum, Kristel P. Mata, and especially their coach, Sir Michael Angelo B. Palomar.

In addition, the school also placed 5th in Robotics Game Individual with Herald F. Jayme and his coach, Sir Michael Angelo B. Palomar.

Students from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Department, namely Winheart A. Romano, Jerick Jeomel A. Gonzales, and Lance Kennan V. Albino in Robotics Game and Herald F. Jayme in Robotics Game Individual, proudly joined the competition for the first time.

Going to school and learning things is already a privilege, and it's so much more when representing the school. Winners or not, always remember that it's not about winning; it's all about the overall experience.

Kicking off the new academic year, Jimanahsians gathered for an engaging acquaintance party last September 12, 2024, at the Judge Restituto V. Tuanda Sports and Cultural Center (JRVTSCC) Gymnasium.The event, themed "BINI BUZZ: WHERE FRIENDSHIP BLOOMS," was an avenue for students to loosen up and bond with each other.

Despite a hectic schedule and limited preparation time, the SSLG officers, led by their enthusiastic president, Crystel Novie E. Recomono, and guided by their adviser, Maria Lourdes E. Patajo, successfully organized the event with the help of Ma'am Jane R. Sevilla and the Arts League members, YES-O members, BKD members, and Teacher Roy G. Enclonar.

The evening starts off with impressive dance presentations from each section, setting an energetic tone for the night. This was followed by a mini concert by Sir Barad and Sir Ian Acabal, which further energized the crowd.

One of the evening's highlights was the thrilling Bini Dance Break Challenge, where participants showcased their best moves. Additionally, the OOTD (Outfit of the Day) competition allowed students to display their unique styles inspired by different BINI attires.

After enjoying the various activities, attendees enjoyed their food together. The dinner was followed by a lively night of disco, providing students with an opportunity to dance and celebrate in a lively atmosphere.

With its engaging and vibrant atmosphere, the party proved to be more than just a social event; it was a chance to build new relationships and ease into the new academic year with a sense of camaraderie.

The event effectively brought students, teachers, and parents together, creating lasting memories for a memorable and fruitful year ahead.
