White Cane Safety Day Celebration
August 3, 2026
During the school's Flag Raising Ceremony, Isulan Central School SPED Center celebrated White Cane Safety Day through a meaningful information drive to promote awareness, respect, and inclusion for persons who are blind and visually impaired.
In accordance with Republic Act No. 6759, which declares August 1 of every year as White Cane Safety Day in the Philippines, this advocacy reminds everyone of the importance of recognizing the white cane as a symbol of independence and ensuring the safety and equal rights of persons with visual impairment.
The information drive was led by our blind learner, Nino Aedam Ballentes, together with his adviser, Maam Charlotte Alonto Charlota A. Alonto, who shared valuable information on proper etiquette, awareness, and ways to support individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
Through activities like this, Isulan Central School SPED Center continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting an inclusive school community where every learner is respected, valued, and empowered.
