Basilan State College commemorated National Womenโs Month at the BaSC Amphitheater through a series of activities highlighting womenโs leadership, rights, and empowerment. The celebration followed the national theme, โWE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Societyโ and this yearโs sub-theme, โLead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!โ
The event, organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and spearheaded by GAD Focal Person Ms. Rima S. Narimin, MBA was divided into morning and afternoon sessions.

The speakers shared their experiences as women in leadership, highlighting both their achievements and the challenges they encountered along their respective jobs and endeavors.

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Paraman highlighted empathy and wisdom as key qualities of the Babaylan leadership. She explained that effective leaders must listen carefully to the needs of their communities and respond with fairness and understanding.
Meanwhile, Asso. Prof. Orillo stressed the value of spiritual grounded in leadership. She reminded participants that, like the Babaylans of the past, leaders should seek spiritual guidance in their decisions and actions.
In the afternoon, the program shifted its focus to womenโs empowerment through knowledge and legal awareness.
