Excellence at Sea: BS Hospitality
Management Students Complete Rigorous Practicum

Seafaring is a rigorous discipline that demands unparalleled resilience, technical precision, and unwavering commitment to safety in the most challenging environments on earth. Our BS Hospitality Management students are not just service providers; they are trained to save lives, execute emergency protocols, manage complex logistics under pressure, maintain international sanitation standards, and serve as ambassadors of Filipino excellence on the global stage.

The successful completion of the practicum was facilitated by the Dean of the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Dr. Ralph Angelo Alipio. This milestone would not have been realized without the steadfast approval of our Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sheila U. Alonzo, whose visionary leadership guides our curriculum; our College President, Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, who is deeply committed to academic rigor; and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 9, for their essential certification to proceed with this activity.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the parents of our students, who provided the unwavering support and trust necessary for their children to pursue this challenging path. Furthermore, we acknowledge the employees of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines for their professional mentorship and for providing an environment where our students could bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world maritime operations. Congratulations to all, and to those who have already secured employment-we are proud of your achievements.❤️⛴️🎉

INSTITUTE OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT HOSTS SPECTACULAR "SING-OFFS" AND "RAVE PARTY"

The Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM ) recently transformed its venue into a first-class entertainment hub, successfully hosting two dynamic events: the "Sing-Offs" and the "Rave Party." These events were a collaborative effort, meticulously planned and executed by the third-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students as part of their HPC 4 (Meetings, Conferences, Incentives, and Event Management) subject, in collaboration with fourth-year students of their CLO 5 (Food and Beverage Operations Management in Ocean Cruises).

The "Sing-Offs" showcased the vocal talents of four exceptional students from other colleges, providing a platform for inter-collegiate artistic expression. Following this, the "Rave Party" ignited the night with electrifying beats from DJ Anton Loon and the energetic presence of Hypeman Ino Makata, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

The primary objectives of these events were multifaceted: to provide practical, hands-on experience in event planning and ex*****on for the BSHM students; to foster collaboration between different year levels and subjects; to enhance the participants' organizational and leadership skills; and to create engaging and memorable experiences for the college community and beyond. These successful endeavors were expertly guided by Dr. Hulma I. Ala, the subject professor, and received invaluable support from Dean Dr. Ralph Angelo D. Alipio and the dedicated faculty members of the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management. The realization of these events would not have been possible without the crucial backing of Atty. Gadzmin Salisa, the College legal officer; Dr. Sheila Alonzo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA); and Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, the College President.

Special gratitude is extended to the esteemed judges, meticulous tabulators, the PNP Isabela for ensuring security, the diligent amphitheater staffs, BSHM organizers for their exceptional cooperation in ensuring a smooth production. The organizers also extend heartfelt thanks to all participants, guests, and the supportive BSHM parents for making these events a resounding success.

First-Year BSHM Students Indulge in Fine Dining Experience at Garden Orchid Hotel

Following the successful completion of their practicum, first-year BSHM students were treated to a fine dining experience at the prestigious Garden Orchid Hotel. This exclusive event served as a celebratory culmination of their hands-on training, providing invaluable exposure to high-end hospitality operations. The evening took an even more distinguished turn with the unexpected presence of Dr. Jose Vicente Regalado, the CHED HM/TM Supervisor, who was also at the hotel that night. His impromptu interaction with the students was a special privilege. This unique opportunity underscored the program's dedication to providing students with real-world connections and memorable learning moments.

Productive Parent/Guardian Consultations for BSHM Program

In a series of well-attended meetings, parents and guardians of BSHM students engaged in comprehensive consultations regarding the program's curriculum and nature. Presided over by the esteemed Dean Dr. Ralph Angelo D. Alipio and with the full attendance of the BSHM faculty, these sessions fostered an open dialogue about the academic rigor, practical components, and career prospects within the hospitality industry. The meetings aimed to ensure that all stakeholders are fully informed and aligned with the program's objectives, reinforcing the collaborative spirit between the college, students, and their families. Discussions covered topics ranging from uniforms, subjects with laboratory components, in-campus and off-campus activities, and internship requirements to industry trends, providing a holistic overview of the BSHM journey.

The recent events highlight a dynamic and engaging approach to hospitality education, where practical experience is seamlessly integrated with academic rigor and invaluable industry connections. The BSHM program is clearly dedicated to nurturing well-rounded professionals, ready to excel in the ever-evolving world of hospitality. These initiatives not only celebrate student achievements but also reinforce the strong partnership between academic institutions, industry leaders, and supportive families, all working in concert to shape the future leaders of the hospitality industry.

Seafaring has long been a vital component of global trade and tourism, connecting cultures and economies across vast oceans. The introduction of Ropax (Roll-on/Roll-off Passenger) vessels has revolutionized maritime travel by providing efficient transport for both passengers and vehicles. This mode of transportation not only enhances the travel experience but also offers our students invaluable insights into the operational aspects of the hospitality industry at sea. Engaging with Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc. allows our students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, preparing them for successful careers in hospitality management.

In light of the recent completion of a two-month practicum by our Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students on Trans Asia's vessels ,we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, our esteemed College President, for her unwavering support of our program and commitment to ensuring a bright future for our students.

Additionally, we acknowledge the efforts of our VPAA, Dr. Sheila U. Alonzo and Mr. Ralph Angelo Alipio, our Dean, whose collaboration has facilitated a smooth transition for our students onto the vessel.

Lastly, we express our sincere appreciation to Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc. for providing this unique opportunity for hands-on learning aboard their vessels. Their collaboration not only enriches our students' educational experience but also strengthens ties between academia and industry.

Together, we celebrate this milestone as a significant step forward in shaping the future leaders of the hospitality sector.🌊⛴️⚓️

🎉 Last Minute Activities of Our Fourth Year Hospitality Management Students 🎉
As we approach the holiday season, our fourth-year BS Hospitality Management students have been busy engaging in enriching activities that enhance their learning and prepare them for their future careers. Here’s a recap of what they accomplished:
🌍 International Safety Management Workshop
Our students had the opportunity to participate in an informative workshop on International Safety Management, hosted by Oceanwide Maritime Services Corp. This session provided valuable insights into safety protocols and best practices within the hospitality industry, particularly focusing on maritime operations. The knowledge gained from this workshop is crucial for our students as they prepare to enter a global workforce where safety standards are paramount. 🛳️ Pre-Deployment Orientation Seminar Following the workshop, we held a Pre-Deployment Orientation Seminar, featuring our esteemed Guest Speaker, Second Mate John Rhome Eser Jose Mamangon, who serves as the Onboard Training Supervisor from Southwestern College of Maritime Business and Technology. His insights into the realities of working at sea provided our students with a comprehensive understanding of what to expect during their upcoming deployments, enhancing their readiness for future challenges in the industry.

🍹 Participation in BaSC Employees Year-End Party
Lastly, selected students had the exciting opportunity to participate in the year-end party for BaSC employees, where they showcased their skills by preparing mocktails. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply their mixology knowledge while interacting with professionals in a festive setting. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday break! 🎁🎉
