BNHS triumphs in 2024 Division Festival of Talents (DFOT)


Basilan National High School (BNHS) emerged victorious in the recently concluded 2024 Division Festival of Talents (DFOT).

With the theme "Galing, Talino, at Husay ng mga Batang Makabansa sa Diwa ng Matatag na Adhika," contestants from different schools once again converged and showcased their individual skills and talents in the annual event held on April 17 at the Conference Hub in Sunrise Barangay, Isabela City, Basilan.

BNHS, known for its commitment to excellence, participated in two out of the three events, namely the Population Quiz Bee (PopQuiz Bee) and the Extemporaneous Speech competitions.

Out of 16 participants in various schools, Jazmin Bahi-an, a grade-11 learner from BNHS, bagged first place in the highly competitive PopQuiz Bee after showcasing her extensive knowledge.

Moreover, another gold medal was clinched by Roxette Francisco, grade-11 learner from BNHS, in the Extemporaneous Speech competition, where delivered a speech that made an impression. Roxette's powerful speech left a lasting impression on the judges, weaving words with firm purpose, in hopes of making a difference. A young girl, that holds power through her words, crowned as the Champion.

The success of Basilan National High School in the 2024 Division Festival of Talents is a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing and showcasing the talents of its
students. The Araling Panlipunan Department headed by Sir Nasser R. Injal, its OIC-Head, Mr. Roseller M. Ramos, and the coaches, Ms. Almayln B. Lozano, SST-III (PopQuiz Bee), and Ms. Lournielyn B. Aparecio, SST-II (Extemporaneous Speech) are all proud and happy for this success.

The Division Festival of Talents serves as a platform for students to showcase their abilities and compete with their peers from different schools. It does not only fosters healthy competition but also promotes camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participants.

The winning contestants in each category will represent the Isabela City Division in the upcoming Regional Festival of Talents (RFOT).

Basilan National High School joins the commemoration of the 124th Philippines Independence Day with the theme ""Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon Ng Panibagong Bukas".

As we relive the essence of this historical milestone, let us all unite and give the highest respect and honor to the different heroes who made this day possible, and let us all rethink the value of freedom with responsibility.

And on June 13, 2022 at exactly 7:30 AM, there will be a flag raising ceremony at the front of Gabaldon Building, Basilan NHS ground.

"Retooling of Teachers' Digital Skills Part II: Microsoft 365 in the Blended Distance Learning cm Enhancing WHLP and DLL Writing"

The Araling Panlipunan Department of Basilan National High School spearheaded by Dr. Nursharif A. Baky, continues to enliven their drive for unending learning and improvement as they concluded another Learning Action Cell Session on December 03, 2021.

The morning session was graced by Mr. Anthony P. Remandaban, SST-III, from the English Department who explicitly explained the salient parts and the process of writing a Weekly Home Learning Plan, while the afternoon session was graced by Ms. Sarah N. Flores, SST-II, from the TLE Department who shared her expertise on the different Microsoft 365 applications. After the different inputs, the AP teachers were then grouped and tasked to make and present their outputs.

The activity served as another learning opportunity for the AP teachers as they continue to improve their skills in delivering quality education for the 21st century learners.

The LAC session was successfully conducted through the approval of our principal Dr. Lyna H. Basri and the consistent efforts of the LAC Coordinator, Ms. Jocelyn D. Caberte, LAC Documenter, Ms. Rawhada J. Salman, and different working committees.

The standard health protocols implemented by the IATF and the Local Government Unit were strictly followed in this activity.

"Retooling of Teachers' Digital Skills Part I: The Use of Canva and Filmora X in the Enhancement of Learning Materials"

The Basilan National High School Araling Panlipunan Department spearheaded by Nursharif A. Baky, PhD, had made another substantial accomplishment as they concluded another Learning Action Cell session on October 29, 2021.

The LAC session was graced by two brilliant speakers who excellently shared their knowledge about the use of Canva and Filmora X in the enhancement of learning materials. The first speaker was Mr. Marco David N. Codera from the English Department who mentored the AP teachers on how to use Filmora X as a tool in the development of their video lessons, and the second speaker was Mr. Marlon G. San Luis from the Science Department who talked about the use of Canva in designing and creating academic presentations. The session was attended by thirteen AP teachers and was synchronously aired using Google Meet for those teachers with comorbidities. After the lecture, the AP teachers were then tasked to make and present their individual outputs in the afternoon.

The activity was indeed a learning avenue for the AP teachers as they continue to enhance their digital editing skills. This will help them to further improve their learning materials for better teaching-learning process.

The LAC session was made possible thru the approval of our principal Dr. Lyna H. Basri and efforts of the LAC Coordinator, Ms. Jocelyn D. Caberte, LAC Documenter, Ms. Rawhada J. Salman and different working committees.
