Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, PhD, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), formally pronounced the conversion of Basilan State College into Basilan State University today, October 2, 2026, during the Pagpamahalayak ceremony at the institution’s gymnasium in Sumagdang, Isabela City, Basilan.

The conversion is affirmed through Commission en Banc (CEB) Resolution No. 553-2026, dated August 17, 2026, confirming that the institution has satisfactorily met the CHED requirements for university status pursuant to Republic Act No. 11554.

The conferment of university status marks a historic milestone for the institution and reflects years of sustained work in strengthening its academic programs, governance, quality assurance systems, research, and institutional capacity.

This achievement is shared by the entire BasSU community and by all individuals, offices, agencies, and partners whose contributions helped bring the institution to this significant moment.

With its transition to Basilan State University, the institution enters a new chapter with a broader mandate and a renewed commitment to academic excellence, knowledge creation, innovation, and meaningful public service.

The College of Computing Studies proudly celebrated the 5th Pinning Ceremony of the OJT Students Batch 2026, held on July 22, 2026, marking the transition of our students from academic preparation to professional immersion.

The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder of their commitment to uphold competence, integrity, professionalism, and excellence as they embark on their On-the-Job Training journey.

With the guidance of the College administration, faculty members, OJT advisers, and the unwavering support of their parents and guardians, our future IT professionals are now ready to take on new challenges, gain meaningful industry experience, and put their knowledge into practice.

📢 ENROLLMENT UPDATE | BASILAN STATE COLLEGE

Second Week of Enrollment | Academic Year 2026–2027

Basilan State College continues its enrollment activities as the institution enters its second week of enrollment, assisting both freshman and returning students throughout the different stages of the enrollment process.

To ensure a smooth, organized, and student-friendly enrollment experience, students are guided through the following offices and services:

🔹 Admission Office – Profiling of freshman and returning students
🔹 Guidance and Counseling – Student profiling and support services
🔹 Health Clinic – Health profiling and related services
🔹 Student Affairs and Services – Student profiling and assistance
🔹 College/Department – Academic and program-related processing
🔹 Assessment Office – Assessment of fees and enrollment requirements
🔹 Collecting Office – Payment of assessed fees
🔹 ICTU – ID card processing for freshman students
🔹 Registrar’s Office – Submission of a copy of the COR and completion of enrollment records

Through the coordinated efforts of the different offices, Basilan State College continues to provide efficient, accessible, and student-centered enrollment services to its students.

Students are encouraged to follow the prescribed enrollment process and coordinate with the concerned offices for assistance or clarification.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

Two faculty members from the College of Computing Studies, together with two student interns, proudly participated in the Omada Certified Network Associate (OCNA) Wireless Certification Training conducted by TP-Link Philippines in collaboration with DICT Basilan and FCI Colleges on July 14–15, 2026, at the Conference Hall, FCI Colleges–Lamitan City Campus, Lamitan City, Basilan.

The two-day certification training provided participants with essential knowledge and hands-on skills in designing, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise wireless networks using Omada by TP-Link, while promoting best practices in network optimization and secure ICT infrastructure. This participation reflects the College’s commitment to continuous professional development and preparing both educators and students with globally recognized, industry-relevant competencies.
