Under the leadership of Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, College President, Basilan State College, through the College of Agriculture headed by Dean Oscar S. Francisco, Jr., successfully conducted a coordination meeting with key stakeholders as part of the initial preparations for the MindanaoโSuluโPalawan Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MinSuPala-IRDC) Project titled โProduct Development and Commercialization of Indigenous Crop and Fish Products.โ The activity aims to strengthen collaboration, align strategies, and secure the active participation of partners in advancing research-driven initiatives that support sustainable development and local enterprise growth.
During the meeting, the project team presented and discussed the project objectives, while stakeholders contributed inputs on priority commodities, production and processing concerns, and potential market opportunities. Roles and responsibilities were clarified, and initial implementation strategies were outlined to guide the projectโs rollout.
With strengthened collaboration and continuous coordination, the College remains committed to transforming research initiatives into inclusive and sustainable community development results.

Basilan State College actively participated in the Capacity-Building Training-Workshop on Module Development, Production Enhancement, and Commercialization of Indigenous Crop and Fish Products under the MinSuPala Innovative Research and Development Consortium (IRDC) Project Phase 3, held on April 20โ24, 2026 at Sindaw Lakeside Hotel, Cafรฉ, and Events Place in Marawi City, and hosted by Adiong Memorial State College.
The activity aimed to strengthen the capacities of consortium member institutions in developing training modules and enhancing technical competencies in indigenous crop and fish production, as well as resource management practices that support value addition, product development, and commercialization.
Through this engagement, the College further reinforced its commitment to advancing research, extension, and innovation particularly in promoting sustainable practices and community-driven development.
This participation reflects the College's continued dedication to empowering communities, promoting sustainable resource management, and contributing to inclusive regional development through collaborative research initiatives.

Basilan State College (BaSC) under the leadership of Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, College President, conducted an exploratory meeting with the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos โ Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education in partnership with the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) to discuss possible partnership focused on the conduct of collaborative research and extension projects, exchange of academic information/materials, and capacity building and fellowship programs.
The meeting serves as an important step toward establishing a collaborative partnership that aims to advance knowledge, strengthen research initiatives, and support community development through shared efforts.

The Basilan State College (BaSC) actively participated in the Strategic Integration and Capacity Alignment Workshop organized by the MindanaoโSuluโPalawan Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MinSuPala-IRDC) on March 26, 2026, held at MSUโBuug, Datu Panas, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The MindanaoโSuluโPalawan Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MinSuPala-IRDC) is a collaborative network of institutions aimed at strengthening research, innovation, and development initiatives across the Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan regions. The workshop specifically aimed to align the implementation of Phase III (2026) titled โProduct Development and Commercialization of Indigenous Crop and Fish Productsโ among new member institutions, ensuring coordinated efforts and effective ex*****on of consortium initiatives.
Representing the BaSC were key personnel led by Oscar S. Francisco, Jr., Project Leader, together with Sheena O. Santos, Sitti Arnah Jagoh, Cynelle Ann D. Senturias, and Jessiebe C. Echin, who served in various project and technical roles.
During the activity, participants engaged in discussions on research collaboration, capacity-building programs, and strategic planning. The workshop emphasized the importance of innovation, partnership, and knowledge-sharing among institutions in achieving food security and sustainable growth in the region.

Basilan State College successfully conducted the Training on Policy Brief/Recommendation Writing and Enhancement of the Research and Development Roadmap in partnership with the DOST -National Research Council of the Philippines and De La Salle University.
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Shirley N. Dita, RD Leader from De La Salle University, together with Mr. Marfy N. Lita, RDLead Project Senior Technical Specialist, and Mr. Byron Lei B. Diaz of the NRCP. The training was attended by faculty members and students and aimed to enhance participantsโ competencies in translating research findings into clear, evidence-based policy briefs and recommendations that can inform decision-making and development initiatives. The discussions also highlighted existing NRCP research grants and other external funding opportunities, giving participants valuable insights into potential sources of support for future research and collaborative projects.
The program also provided an in-depth discussion of the Collegeโs Research and Development Roadmap, highlighting its importance in aligning institutional research efforts with national and community needs. In addition, the training featured sessions on Corpus Linguistics which introduced practical tools and approaches to strengthen research analysis and academic writing.
The activity served as a platform for capacity building, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, supporting the College's continuing efforts to promote a strong research culture and meaningful partnerships with national and international institutions.
