​ISABELA CITY — Amidst the high-energy atmosphere of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) meet, a different kind of victory is being celebrated off the field. Jack and Jill Integrated School (JJIS) has officially opened its doors—and its heart—to the families of student-athletes through a pioneering Free Stay Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the city’s sporting history.

​To date, the program has accommodated more than a hundred families who traveled from across the region to cheer on their children. These visitors, hailing largely from Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Dipolog, Dapitan, and Pagadian, have found more than just a place to sleep; they have found a sanctuary of genuine Isabeleño hospitality.

​For many veteran sports parents, the JJIS initiative is a welcome surprise. In previous years, while athletes were provided with quarters, the families supporting them were often left to find—and fund—their own lodging.

​The spirit of the frontier met the joy of the season as Jack and Jill Integrated School (JJIS) rounded up its faculty and staff for a spectacular year-end Christmas party. Held at the scenic Monte Rio Farm, the event was dubbed "JJIS Goes to the Wild Wild West," transforming the venue into a lively ranch filled with cowboy hats, plaid shirts, and high-energy festivities.

​𝗔 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁

​The dust kicked up early as the various departments took to the stage. From the adorable routines of the Preschool and Primary teachers to the high-octane performances by the Intermediate and High School faculty, the air was thick with competitive yet friendly energy. Not to be outdone, the non-teaching personnel also showcased their hidden talents, proving that the JJIS family is as versatile as it is dedicated.

​Beyond the performances, the "Wild West" theme was kept alive through:

​Parlor Games: Classic challenges that sparked laughter and friendly rivalry.

​Exchange Gifts: A heartfelt "Monito-Monita" tradition that brought smiles and surprises to everyone.

​The event wasn't just about the "yee-haw" moments; it was also grounded in reflection and gratitude. Hon. Abner Rodriguez, the School Administrator, opened the festivities with a warm formal welcome, setting a tone of unity and celebration.

​Adding spiritual depth to the gathering, Rev. Patrick Coma of the Isabela Alliance Evangelical Church served as the guest speaker. His message reminded the JJIS family of the true meaning of the season, offering inspiration to carry into the coming year.

​The excitement reached a fever pitch during the Raffle Draw, the undisputed highlight of the afternoon. Lucky winners walked away with various prizes, but the cheers grew even louder during the distribution of the Christmas bonuses—a tangible thank-you for the hard work rendered throughout the year.

​"We are profoundly grateful to the management for this experience," shared one staff member. "The leadership truly knows how to make us feel valued."

​The success of the event is credited to the vision of the School President, Madam Myrna S. Rodriguez. Her leadership has been instrumental in fostering a supportive environment where milestones are celebrated with such flair and generosity.

​As the sun set over Monte Rio Farm, the JJIS family rode off into the holiday break with full hearts, big smiles, and memories of a cowboy Christmas they won't soon forget.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity, Jack and Jill Integrated School (JJIS) traveled to the highland community of Calvario Peak Elementary School recently to conduct its signature "Love Drive."

​The outreach program, which has become a hallmark of the JJIS student experience, successfully reached over 300 students, providing them with essential supplies and a much-needed morale boost.

​The event was organized by the JJIS Supreme Pupils Government (SPG). Far from being a one-time gesture, the Love Drive serves as the SPG’s flagship project, a tradition of service that has been actively sustained year after year.

Through this initiative, the student leaders aim to bridge the gap between different communities and instill a lifelong value of empathy in their peers.
​Leading the delegation was the School President herself, Madam Myrna S. Rodriguez. Her presence underscored the institution's commitment to social responsibility, as she personally oversaw the distribution and engaged with the local families.

​The distribution was carefully planned to address both the practical needs of the households and the simple joys of childhood. The beneficiaries received:

​Essential Rice: Heavy bags of rice to support family meals.

​Pantry Staples: Assorted groceries including canned goods and noodles.

​Treats for Children: A variety of "goodies" and snacks that brought immediate smiles to the pupils’ faces.

​The atmosphere at Calvario Peak was one of overwhelming appreciation. Members of the school administration, along with the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), expressed their deep gratitude for being selected as this year’s beneficiary.

​"We are so thankful to Jack and Jill Integrated School," shared one parent. "These supplies mean a lot to our families, but seeing the students come all the way here to share their blessings means even more."

​For the JJIS Supreme Pupils Government, the success of the drive isn't measured in the number of bags given, but in the strengthened bond between the two schools. As the team headed back, they carried with them the fulfillment of a mission accomplished—proving once again that love, when shared, only grows.

Recognizing that reading is the foundation of all learning, the school is recommitting to its long-standing tradition of establishing strong academic foundations for its students.

​The program is a dedicated intervention aimed at enhancing the reading capability of students who have fallen behind. It addresses a critical problem facing education today—the difficulty many young learners have with basic literacy skills.

​The instruction uses a multi-faceted approach, combining two effective methodologies:

​The Sound Approach: This method focuses on phonics—connecting letters and groups of letters with the sounds they represent. This helps students decode unfamiliar words.

​The Sight Reading Approach: This involves teaching high-frequency or common words as whole units, enabling students to quickly recognize them without needing to sound them out every time, thus improving reading speed and comprehension.

​By integrating these two techniques, JJIS aims to build a comprehensive set of reading skills that move pupils from struggling to confident readers.
