ICEPS Welcomes New School Leaders and Conducts Turnover of Key Responsibilities for FY 2026
The Isabela Central Elementary Pilot School community officially welcomed its new school leaders, Evelyn Fernandez and Rodolfo Mecarez, in a meaningful turnover ceremony highlighting leadership, accountability, and continuity of quality education for School Year 2026–2027.
One of the highlights of the activity was the symbolic turnover of the “Key of Responsibility,” signifying the formal transfer of leadership and stewardship of the school’s programs, operations, and development plans. The ceremony reflected the commitment of the new administration to continue the vision and mission of ICEPS in delivering accessible, inclusive, and quality education to all learners.
Alongside the turnover ceremony was the presentation and endorsement of the school’s major operational and developmental plans for Fiscal Year 2026, including the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), School Improvement Plan (SIP) 2026–2028, School Operating Budget (SOB), and the Annual Procurement Plan (APP). These essential documents serve as the foundation of the school’s strategic direction, financial management, and implementation of programs and projects aimed at improving school performance and learner outcomes.
Present during the turnover ceremony was the outgoing principal, Jocelyn Buenaventura, whose leadership and dedication greatly contributed to the growth and success of the institution. And this turn over were also supported by the two Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDS) of the East District, Rachel G. Oliveros and Ester S. Laracochea, who witnessed and supported the smooth transition of leadership.
Teachers, school personnel, and stakeholders expressed their support and optimism for the new administration, hoping for continued growth, innovation, and excellence in all school undertakings.
With unity, dedication, and collaborative leadership, ICEPS looks forward to a productive and transformative School Year 2026–2027 under the guidance of its new administration.

ICEPS Bags Prestigious Awards During ZPRAA 2026
The spirit of excellence and teamwork once again shone brightly as Isabela Central Elementary Pilot School (ICEPS) received a Plaque of Recognition during the 22nd Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet 2026 held in Isabela City, Basilan.
ICEPS was recognized as Champion in the Best Billeting and Delegation Host Award, a remarkable achievement that reflects the school’s dedication, hospitality, cleanliness, organization, and unwavering commitment in providing the best accommodation experience for delegates and guests throughout the regional athletic event conducted from April 6 to 11, 2026.
The award was presented by the Schools Division Office of Isabela City and the City Government of Isabela during the closing and awarding ceremonies held at the Isabela City Grandstand on April 11, 2026.
This recognition highlights the collective efforts of the entire ICEPS community — administrators, teachers, protocol officers, non-teaching personnel, parents, and stakeholders — who worked hand in hand to ensure that all billeting quarters were orderly, comfortable, clean, and welcoming for visiting delegations.
Adding pride to the institution, Dr. Jocelyn R. Buenaventura also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her invaluable support and contribution as a member of the Committee on Accommodation and Billeting and Non-Participating Athletes during the successful conduct of ZPRAA 2026.
The recognition given to Dr. Buenaventura reflects the dedication and hard work of the committee members who tirelessly performed their duties to maintain quality service and ensure the comfort and safety of all delegates throughout the duration of the event.
The success of ICEPS in ZPRAA 2026 proves that beyond athletic competitions, teamwork, discipline, hospitality, and commitment to service remain at the heart of every accomplishment. Truly, these awards serve as an inspiration and testament to the excellence and unity of the ICEPS community

Central Office Conducts On-Site Validation at ICEPS for Proposed 3-Storey, 15-Classroom Building
ISABELA CITY, BASILAN — Personnel from the Department of Education Central Office recently visited Isabela Central Elementary Pilot School (ICEPS) on May 2, 2026 as part of the on-site validation for the proposed construction of a three-storey school building with 15 classrooms.
The validation formed as part of the official itinerary of the Central Office delegation during their visit to Basilan from May 1 to 3, 2026. The team conducted inspections and site assessments in selected schools to evaluate infrastructure needs and determine the readiness of proposed educational development projects.
Leading the delegation was Undersecretary Ronald U. Mendoza, Executive Assistant V Jeremay M. Cervancia, Technical Assistant IV Rex B. Saño, and other consultants from the Central Office togethwr with SDS Maria Maria Laarni Torres Villanueva , CESO VI. Also present were Dr. Sheila Rose B. Apiag- chief of Education Support Sr uces Division, CIDG Chief Henry Tura, SGOD Chief Eduardo Gulang, DepEd R-IX Engeneering Divsion and Division Engeneer Jellie S. Tan
During the visit, the team assessed the proposed location, available space, and existing school facilities at ICEPS. The planned three-storey, 15-classroom building aims to address classroom shortages, improve the learning environment, and provide better educational facilities for learners and teachers.
School officials headed by Doctor Jocelyn Buenaventura together with the PSDS West- I, Doctor Jamir Lujuman , Teaching and Non- teaching personnel warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed their gratitude for the continued support of the Department of Education in strengthening school infrastructure and enhancing the quality of education in the division.
The proposed project is expected to greatly benefit the school community by providing safer, more spacious, and learner-friendly classrooms that will support the growing population of pupils in ICEPS.
The on-site validation reflects the Department’s commitment to ensuring that educational infrastructure projects are properly evaluated and aligned with the needs of schools and learners.

The Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Isabela City warmly invites all incoming Grade 1 learners who wish to enroll in the Special Science Elementary Schools (SSES) Program for School Year 2026–2027 to take the SAGES-2 Screening Assessment Test.
This assessment is intended for qualified pupils who are interested in becoming part of the Special Science classes in the following schools:

ICEPS Teachers Mobilize for ZPRAA 2026 Preparation
April 1-2, , 2026 | Isabela City
In preparation for the upcoming Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet, teachers of Isabela City Elementary Pilot School (ICEPS) convened on April 2, 2026, to ensure the readiness of essential supplies for the Pagadian City Delegation.
The activity focused on the systematic sorting and packing of goods such as coffee, Milo, milk, and biscuits, which will be distributed to the athletes and delegates. The initiative was spearheaded by Rowena E. Narciso, together with selected ICEPS teachers, who worked collaboratively to ensure that all items were properly organized and accounted for.
In support of the delegation’s accommodation needs, Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers were tasked with the procurement of bedding materials. These include 200 foams, 200 pillows, 200 bed sheets, and 200 blankets, all intended to provide comfort and convenience to the visiting athletes and officials.
Yesterday, April 1, 2026, another group of teachers led by Vilma H. Salazar facilitated the distribution of the initial batch of beddings to the advance party from Pagadian City. The provision of these supplies was made possible through the efforts and support of the Isabela City Local Government Unit (LGU) headed by Honorable Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin , highlighting strong collaboration between the school and local government.
Prior to the sorting and packing of goods , Ma. Zerimar L. Jalon headed a separate team going to Zamboanga City to purchase additional sets of beddings and goods, ensuring that all requirements are met ahead of the regional event.
Through the leadership of our generous Principal Jocelyn Buenaventura EdD, teamwork and shared commitment , ICEPS teachers continue to demonstrate their dedication to service and excellence, playing a vital role in the successful hosting and participation in ZPRAA 2026.

ICEPS Celebrates Women’s Month with Fun-Filled Activities and Empowerment Showcase
In celebration of Women’s Month, (ICEPS) successfully conducted a vibrant and meaningful program that highlighted the strength, confidence, and unity of women.
The event gathered teachers and guests in a day filled with engaging activities and inspiring moments.
Gracing the occasion were Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Jamir L. Ludjuman, EdD, and School Principal Jocelyn R. Buenaventura, EdD, whose presence underscored the importance of recognizing women’s contributions in education and society. Also present were the dedicated ICEPS teachers, along with Pre-Service Teachers from Basilan State College and Furigay College Incorporated.
The celebration featured a variety of fun and interactive activities that encouraged participation and camaraderie among attendees. Among the highlights were the volleyball match dubbed “Young ones versus Once Young,” the lively “Who Am I?” trivia game, and the entertaining “Juana Went to Town.” These activities not only brought joy but also strengthened relationships within the school community.
Adding excitement to the event, prizes were generously sponsored by the School Principal and the Teachers’ Club, further motivating participants to actively engage in the celebration.
A special highlight of the program was the heartfelt serenade from the “Power Puff Boys,” headed by Marcial Flores, who captivated the audience as they performed meaningful songs dedicated to the candidates. Their performance added a touching and memorable element to the celebration, honoring the beauty, strength, and confidence of women.
Another meaningful feature of the celebration was the “Women Empowered Wall,” where female teachers were invited to complete the statement, “I am a strong woman because…”. This activity provided a platform for self-expression and reflection, allowing participants to share their personal stories, strengths, and inspirations. The wall became a powerful symbol of empowerment, unity, and resilience among women in the school community.
The most anticipated segment of the program was the “Queen of Confidence,” which showcased the poise, talent, and self-assurance of representatives from different grade levels. Joyce M. Lim emerged as the Queen of Confidence, impressing both judges and the audience with her confidence and charm. She was followed by Mercelyn Anoya of Grade 1 as 1st Runner-Up, Jurisel M. Tabuniag of Grade 6 as 2nd Runner-Up, andDavie O. Sucuajil of Grade 3 as 3rd Runner-Up. All candidates were recognized and awarded cash prizes along with consolation prizes, affirming that every participant is a queen in her own right.
The selection of winners was carefully evaluated by the esteemed panel of judges composed of Administrative Officer Barbara A. Verzosa, ADAS Rodrigo Villanueva, and Bookkeeper Audry Jane, whose expertise and fairness ensured the credibility of the results.
The celebration was made even more special through the food contributions sponsored by different grade levels, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and generosity among the school community.
Overall, the Women’s Month celebration at ICEPS was a resounding success, emphasizing empowerment, inclusivity, and appreciation for women. The event served as a reminder that confidence, unity, and resilience are qualities worth celebrating—not just this month, but every day.
