The ISU Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Quality Management System (QMS) Core Team served as panel assessors during the QMS Management Review of the ISU Ilagan Campus held on December 15, 2025, at the New CEAT Building, ISU Ilagan.
The activity evaluated the campusโs performance in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards, reviewed the effectiveness of quality management initiatives, and identified areas for improvement. Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, Cluster Executive Officer, along with campus directors, heads of offices, and college deans, presented their reports, while the QMS Core Team, led by Prof. Nerissa P. Batoon and composed of Ms. Maricel-Joy P. Abella, Ms. Cristina S. Galido, and Mr. Johnray M. Gallena, provided valuable feedback and recommendations to further strengthen ISU Ilaganโs quality management practices in support of quality education and excellence.

Isabela State University (ISU) conducted a mentoring session today, December 9, 2025, via Zoom with Urdaneta City University (UCU) to strengthen preparations for ISUโs first-ever participation in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). The activity brought together University and campus officials, along with key personnel involved in developing ISUโs WURI entries.
The session opened with an insightful overview of WURI delivered by Dr. Sonny Soriano, Director for External Affairs and Linkages of UCU, who also shared essential strategies and best practices for effective case writing and submission. Following the discussion, ISUโs draft cases were presented and thoroughly evaluated by Dr. Soriano and Mr. Justine Vincent C. Isip, UCU staff and case writer, who provided constructive feedback to help refine and strengthen the submissions.
This mentoring initiative aims to build ISUโs capacity to prepare high-quality, innovative entries and ensure their timely submission for WURI 2026, marking an important step toward the Universityโs engagement in world university rankings.

Isabela State University (ISU) conducted an institutional orientation for the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026 on December 1, 2025, at the Climate Change Center. The event was attended by University and campus officials and key personnel to strengthen the Universityโs preparations for its participation.
The session opened with an overview of WURIโs objectives and evaluation dimensions, emphasizing how innovation-driven initiatives can position ISU on the global landscape. This was followed by a focused consultation with the Universityโs executive and administrative management, where discussions centered on aligning ISUโs strategic directions with WURIโs criteria and identifying priority areas that highlight the Universityโs transformative efforts.
Presenters also shared innovative case examples and best practices to have a clearer understanding of how projects may be framed to reflect ISUโs contributions to social, industrial, and institutional innovation. Practical pointers on narrative writing, documentation, and evidence consolidation were likewise provided to guide offices in crafting entries.

The ISU Quality Assurance Office, together with the International Affairs Office and the MIS Office, organized the first orientation and planning session for the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) on November 27, 2025, at Alba Hall, ISU Echague. The session was attended and supported by university and campus directors, center directors, and other key university officials and staff.
The goal of the session was to orient attendees on the methodology of the World University Rankings for Innovation and to discuss the necessary programs for submission. This session marks the beginning of the universityโs preparation for the WURI Rankings 2026, aiming to showcase Isabela State Universityโs innovative and real-world contributions to society and industry.

Isabela State University (ISU) has consistently placed a high priority on quality education and is committed to continuously improving its programs and services. As a significant step towards advancing its educational standards, ISU engages in a two-day training workshop based on ISO 21001:2018 (Educational Organizations Management Systems) conducted by the Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) held in 1898 Hotel Colonia En Las Filipinas, Makati City, on September 16-17, 2025.
ISO 21001:2018 (EOMS) is an international management system standard specifically designed for educational organizations. ISO 21001:2018 adapts the principles of ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and provides a framework for higher educational institutions to establish, implement, maintain, and improve management systems that enhance learner satisfaction by consistently delivering effective and efficient quality education.
The training workshop aimed to deepen participantsโ understanding of EOMS documentation requirements, enhance their ability to manage documented information, and enable them to initiate EOMS documentation development to ensure audit readiness and long-term system sustainability.
Campus QA directors and personnel from different ISU campuses participated in the training workshop, namely Ms. Maricel-Joy P. Abella (Campus QA Director โ ISU Echague); Ms. Cristina S. Galido (ISU Echague); Ms. Charibel R. Sarte (Campus AA/QA Director - ISU Roxas); Mr. Arnold L. Alburo (Campus QA Director โ ISU Ilagan); Ms. Frances Ivy C. Valdez (ISU Ilagan); Mr. David P. Pascua Jr. (ISU Ilagan); Ms. Blesie Joy M. Laguna (ISU Ilagan); Ms. Eleanor R. Atienza (ISU Ilagan); Mr. Christian Philip A. Fortuna (Campus QA Director โ ISU Cauayan); Mr. Ryan P. Salviejo (ISU Cauayan); Dr. Aisie O. Bete-Liban (Campus QA Director โ ISU San Mariano); Ms. Mary Grace C. Buraga-Dalit (ISU Angadanan); and Mr. Paulino V. Derilo (ISU Angadanan).

ISU Triumphs in Maintaining ISO 9001:2015 Certification
The Isabela State University (ISU) Echague proudly upholds its reputation for excellence as it successfully maintains its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification โ a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, efficiency, and world-class standards.
From August 12โ14, 2025, the university underwent a rigorous Surveillance Audit led by Mr. Erwin F. Quinto, IMS Lead Auditor of TรV SรD PSB Philippines. The audit concluded with a resounding recommendation for the maintenance of our certification, reaffirming that ISU consistently meets and exceeds internationally recognized benchmarks of quality.
This achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and collective effort of the entire ISU community. We stand steadfast and proud in our mission to deliver globally competitive education and exceptional services to all our stakeholders โ proving once again that excellence is not just our goal, it is our standard.

The Isabela State University - Echague Campus, through its Quality Assurance Office (QAO), successfully conducted this yearโs Management Review last July 29, 2025, at De Venecia Hall, ISU Echague, Isabela.
The program was formally opened by Prof. Artemio A. Martin, Jr., the Cluster Executive Officer of Echague with a message underscoring the significant adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) standards for continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
During the review, the Quality Assurance Team presented the report on the performance and effectiveness of the QMS in terms of client satisfaction and feedback, process performance, conformity of products and services, monitoring and measurement results, and audit results, including non-conformities and corrective actions.
Likewise, the performance of external providers, the adequacy of resources (i.e., human resources, infrastructure, budget, and work environment), and the effectiveness of actions taken to address risks and opportunities were also presented by their respective focal personnel.
The Management Review concluded with a message from Prof. Helena B. Florendo, Campus Director for Academic Affairs, in which she reinforced ISU Echagueโs commitment to ISO 9001:2015 standards for the continuous improvement of ISU services.

The Isabela State University Quality Assurance Office (ISU QAO) spearheaded a two-day Quality Management System (QMS) Review and Planning from July 2-3, 2025, held at the Climate Change Center, ISU Echague, Isabela.
The two-day activity set the strategic direction of the QAO in adherence to ISO 9001:2015 QMS standards and prepared the participants for the periodic external audit of TรV SรD PSB Philippines.
Prof. Nerissa P. Batoon, the newly-designated University Director for Quality Assurance, encouraged everyone to support the universityโs continual improvement and sustainability of the QMS endeavor for academic excellence and quality of service, followed by the Statement of Purpose.
Day 1 was specifically intended for instruction, research, and extension units, participated in by the deans, college secretaries, and campus directors. Day 2 was set for the support services participated in by the different office heads, campus directors, and non-academic staff.
Key members of the University QMS Core Team facilitated the activity as resource persons, namely Ms. Maricel-Joy P. Abella, University Section Chief for Internal Quality Audit; Ms. Cristina S. Galido, University Section Chief for Monitoring, Assessment, and ISO; and Mr. Constante G. Medina, University Section Chief for Planning and Risk Management. Ms. Abella presented the previous external audit and gave important reminders about the periodic QMS surveillance audit. Afterwards, Ms. Galido reviewed the campus' QMS objectives and facilitated the setting of new targets for the academic year 2025-2026. Lastly, Mr. Medina shared key information about risk management, including potential risk identification and the preparation of a risk registry for process-owners.
The activity concluded with a closing message from Prof. Helena B. Florendo, Campus Director for Academic Affairs, in which she expressed her gratitude to all the participants of the two-day activity. She emphasized the importance of adherence to the ISO 9001:2015 standards for the betterment of the campus and the university as a whole.

With great pride, the ISU Quality Assurance Office warmly welcomes its newly designated University Director, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐จ๐ง, a passionate and experienced faculty member from the College of Education, ISU Echague Campus.
Prof. Batoon formerly served as a member of the University Quality Management System (QMS) Core Team, the Campus Director for Quality Assurance, and the Dean of the College of Education. She has also actively participated in ISU Echague's internal and external quality audits and has attended numerous quality assurance trainings, bringing a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the ISU Quality Assurance Office.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Prof. Batoon and look forward to her leadership as the ISU Quality Assurance Office continues to pursue academic excellence and continual quality improvement.
