Good news! new relocation site of our school.
Montilla donates lot
for Tinongan HS site
Isabela Councilor Patrick Montilla signed yesterday the deed of donation for a lot where the Tinongan National High School will be constructed, a press release said.
Montilla, through a Special Power of Attorney, and in behalf of his family, donated 9,973 square meters of their property located in Hacienda San Bonifacio, Barangay Tinongan in Isabela town.
“It’s a dream come true,” principal Suzanne Catague said, after she and Montilla signed the deed, in the presence of Department of Education legal counsel, Glen Mortel, the press release said.
Catague said that after 39 years of the existence of the Tinongan National High School, it now has its own school site. She added that the school “squats” with the Tinongan Elementary School.
“It is a long awaited dream of the parents, teachers, the students, and the alumni” she added.
With the school site, Catague added that “the school can now settle permanently with its own physical structures, buildings and own identity and will no longer be called a squatter.”
She said there is already a pending budget from the DepEd national office for the 20 classroom school building with an estimated amount of P20 million, to be equipped with restrooms, Information and Communication Technology laboratory, Science laboratory, and workshops.
As of now, Catague said the high school has 493 students.
She added that the construction of the school will start as soon as the Department of Public Works and Highways will issue the Notice to Proceed.
As part of the deed of donation, the school will be known as the Patrick Arroyo Montilla Jr. National High School.
Montilla, who is the chairman of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Education, said that “with the implementation of the K-12 program, the town needs additional classrooms to be able to accommodate the growing number of students and with the pending program from DepEd to fund the building of the classrooms, seeing that opportunity, I saw the chance to make this project a reality for the students, the teachers, and the town.”
He added that “as for the school’s name, I thought it would be appropriate to name it after our late father, who was commonly known as “Nonoy Patrick” to the people and just Patrick to his friends and family”, the press release added.*
